Road Cycling Essentials

I have a choice every morning. Turn left at the end of my street to ride the hillier and twisty country roads which is further distance, or turn right and ride through the villages to town which currently have have the road surface skimmed for resurfacing.

Rode the country roads last night and this morning for work... love it. Was chilly when I set off but soon warmed up and I ended up getting to work quicker than the shorter route. I dunno if I'll be riding this way once it's dark so I'm going to enjoy it while I can methinks.

Aye it was really chilly this morning, the first ride of the year I've thought I need more layers up top. I usually ride with a windproof longsleeved short, and a windproof gillet, but now I'm going to have to break out the long sleeve tops.

Yeah I've just dragged out the long sleeve windstopper, bib tights and thicker gloves. I dont mind really - I strangely like riding in cold conditions :)

Just ordered this for next seasons TT league - couldn't resist at £999 reduced from £1500 :)

Black, I love the red/white but I'd simply get oil on it or something, and that price I'd be mad :p. Plus the black will make me go faster, or something. And most of my kit is black, so it will match more...:o.

Just to clarify that I don't necessarily have more money then sense, I'm only buying it because its £130 down from £250 :p.

Actually - help me make a decision quick before it gets shipped. We have the Mannaggia at £137, or the Leggerezza at £156. I'll happily admit I'm a tart, and the Mannaggia looks way better in my opinion, but should I go for the overall more versatility of the Leggerezza? By all accounts the Mannaggia is excellent in low temperature and I really do suffer in the cold, but the Leggerezza would be useable more of the year. Mind I do already have a Castelli windbreaker gillet...hmmm..

All I'm wearing is DHB padded bib tights, DHB fleece lined long sleeve jersey and a craft base layer underneath it. Only things that were cold was my face and fingers but it's not cold enough for the buff or full winter gloves yet! I am a country lad tho, used to wearing shorts and t-shirt whilst out with the dogs in a snow and ice covered landscape.

Heh Dup, I pass people every morning in shorts and short sleeved shirts, and they make me shiver. I've got my tights on, arm warmers, buff, windbreaker gillet, and I'm still cold :p. Until I get going that is.

The Mannaggia is the clear choice then, it's much better looking. I find it pretty hilarious that I'm an XL according to their sizing, yet most of my non-cycling clothes are medium.

Personally I'm still wearing cargo shorts over dhb padded undershorts with a Madison jersey, which has been surprisingly good value for money - so much so that I bought another two last week. I will admit to having to ditch the short fingered gloves in favour of long fingered ones this week though. Not sure what to expect in the coming months, as this is my first year commuting by bike.
