Can anyone recommend any recovery drinks or other to stop my thighs feeling like concrete after my ride every morning?

I started commuting (not v far) about 2 weeks ago and my quads are stiff. I probably need to get some high5 zero tabs or something for my water, but do I need a recovery supplement to stop my legs from seizing?

Damn me for getting so unfit!!

Have you tried warming down with some stretches? You're wasting your time with 'recovery drinks' and 'Zero Cal (sugar replaced with Sucralose  )' Electrolyte Tabs.

If you're eating a decent balanced diet you will be getting all the Electrolytes and nutrients you need. And if you're not eating a balanced diet then that's still your first port of call before you go supplementing.

If your ride really isn't that far and it continues then take a look at your bike setup (saddle height, position) etc.

Otherwise eat a banana keep hydrated and MTFU :)

Bonked big style on last nights ride, it was only when I uploaded to Strava I understood why. We were going a fair bit quicker than usual and broke a few PR's on some segments, I jumped up over 50 places on one popular segment.

I assume Fraser is from these boards who requested to follow me the other day?

Should have a follow request from me now - Dave Cross.

This route is similar to the commute I've been doing recently, except I stop at East Leake (work at British Gypsum)

Got it mate - small world... I've got a Clio 172 and you told me about Mick @ Diamond Motors (nickl360 on cliosport.net).

Accepted your request, might bump in to you one day.

I track commutes as thats pretty much all I do. I just go different routes depending on how I feel. @Lead_Head yeah I think you found me on BR too. Should go for a ride as you're local.

Forgot to mention, you should all put on the privacy thing that hides the first few hundred metres of your ride so that no weirdos from the interwebs know where you live :p

I'll try and add a guide of who's who to the description of the club.
If you want to be on it, let me know your strava name and i'll add you.
(Or if you're one of the ones i have added already, i can delete it if you like)

Good idea but might be worth having real name and then username in alphabetical order - more likely to see someone's ride and then want to find out who that is than the other way round.

Kieran Veale - kieranv

most of my rides are on the mtb at the moment, and next week will be filled with mountain biking in France. Then after that it's all road :)

I got another package from Torm today :)

A new T8 jersey, which has not yet been released. Looks exactly like the T5 but has a red band in the centre of the white arm bands. Will only be available in red with white bands initially. Black to be made available next year.

Fit and finish to usual Torm standards. Same fit as the T7, so slightly smaller than the T5 fit for the same size.

Also popped into Condor Cycles at lunch and got a Rapha Summer Gilet (to complement my Rapha soft shell gilet) and a pair of Rapha Classic Bibs. The bibs are super comfortable - a nicer pad than my Castelli Body Paint bibs and probably on a par with the Assos pad in my Winter tights. I think Cytech make the Rapha pads. Looking forward to my first ride in those :)

Murf - Andrew Murphy. If you don't mind adding me to the section at the top of the group. :)

Did my first ever TT yesterday evening. 10miles, well, 9.86miles due to road works. I was praying for anything sub 30 mins. Got round the course in 25:34. Averaged 37.1kph. Was absolutely chuffed to bits. I was on my Cube Agree GTC SL with some aero bars. Most of the 60 riders had showed up on some crazily expensive TT kit. Aero helmets, disc wheels etc! Was 40th out of 60. Need to improve next week now. :)
