Haha I'm aware of the methods, but don't want to buy any equipment even for 2 quid! I don't own weighing scales as there are no females here. :foreveralone:

It is very light to lift and climbs well even with the heavier Cosmic Carbones so that is good enough for me. My estimates would put it around 7kg, maybe a little over.

Waaaah, it was hot this morning.

29.8 miles at an average of 17mph which is an improvement for me, quite a big one!

Chuffed. Smelly though.

Wasn't as hot as yesterday, it felt like I was going to die on my 20 mile ride!

I too went out today. Did a little over 32 miles averaging 17mph. Quite pleased with myself.

Did a leisurely 54 miles today through Cheddar Gorge. Just noticed Garmin shows total pedal strokes and today was 14,631 heh.

I'm curious as to which frames you were looking at; were they top end ones, like the Enigma Excel? My Van Nicholas Yukon was listed at £2800 with a full Ultegra groupset and Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels (though I actually paid £2300 for it). There are also a number of VN and Sabbath titanium frame bikes on FatBirds.co.uk that come in well under £3k (in fact, there are quite a few that come in under £2k).

Not that the idea you've had of getting the Canyon and swapping the components is a bad one, of course - I am just curious :)

You're absolutely right there are cheaper options, and it's quite a long story but to cut it short my search has involved a lot of 'soul searching' As this is my ultimate/dream bike. And a 'bike for life' etc so it's about much more than just the price of the frame set.

I've looked at and considered 'every' level of frame and have probably compiled one of the most complete lists of Ti past/present builders from around the world. Many I've spoken too via email/phone, some I have met and ridden their bikes etc.

Forgive the noob question... What's so exciting about titanium? I assume that's one up even from carbon?

It isn't exciting to everyone at all. Cycling is a lot of things to different people. Some people just wan't to race carbon and wear team clothing, some potter around and socialise, ride off road, do tricks, ride ramps etc others it's simply a means to get from A to B.

It isn't about an hierarchy of this material is better than that material. To many Steel is the ultimate, me it's Ti, and many just don't care.
