well basically im coming down a road through some traffic lights with about 300 yds to a t junction,

two cars overtake me im doing 20mph i move to the middle of the road to turn right and the 3rd car overtakes me, I see an oncoming vehicle and start breaking he cuts in, but as its been raining and cars brake faste rthan bikes I brake hard lock up and nudge the back of the car at around 2mph he opens his window and shouts are you blind you £$%$ I say what he repeats I say why did you overtake me there, he jumps out i try to get off my bike he throws a right I partially block it, he throws a left and again i partially block it, he takes a step back I said numberplate blah bla blah im now going to report you for assault, he thinks whoops and jumps back in his car and drives off.

I walk to the car behind take there name and number, the driver of the car writes down the numpties plate as well as there number while saying what a numpty what he do that for i said what happened they say yeah we saw him overtake idiot I thank them on they go, my bike still blocking the road, the next car ask if im alright I say yeah ask if they saw anything they say we wish we did but the car in front was in the way I thank them and move on.

got on my bike have snapped a clip of the left pedal, but cycle to the nearest police station and report it and am now waiting for officers to come to the house.

Hey Memph, do you still live up north? I think the last time I saw you was at an UB meet in like 2003 or something :) Fancy a ride somewhen?

I'm (back) in N'allerton. Just went to Hamsterley last weekend with a mate from Shildon :) (But he lives in newcastle).

well im near about 8 miles from hamsterly , so we certainly could meet up and go for a ride up weardale and back down teesdale or something depending how far you wanted to go etc ? or I could meet you somewhere in the middle ?

Sucks memph. I've had a few "encounters" but none have turned physical. Well done for managing to get the plate.

thanks for all the support guys, police have been on the phone to make an appointment for me to go to the station, so hopefully this will go further.

I've wrote down a statement of everything i remember so ill take that with me when i go.

on the subject I need a new set of pedals, I have been using spd ones but am thinking of going look or spd sl for a flatter, bigger base for better power transfer.

I havce been looking at look keo plus, classic and Shimano 540 and 105 spd sl are there any others i should be looking at or any recommendations out there ?

Look Keo Easy? Are they they same?
Did you ever have any discomfort from the SPDs? I am planning on getting some, due to the reported extra difficulty of getting out of SLs..

But once I got used to having my feet attached, I do plan to move over to them.

I really struggle to understand how some people have such animosity for cyclists.
I wonder if his reaction would have been the same if it was another car who had nudged into the back of him? :(

i do think a lot of its down to the road tax mentality, however try telling them road tax is based on emission and as a cyclist you dont produce any, that normally has them squirming lol obviously this is based on a normal conversation that may come up in a pub etc, i am not advocating this line of retort in the middle of a roadrage incident !

no none at all ive used spds for best part of 8 months, think there great, easy in and easy out (except for today) if yer a weight weening the ones i had were the lightest spds i could find at a reasonable price and really good

Woo, lots in the post today. New gloves, new light bracket, lots of drink mix and tabs and some gels. Just waiting on some energy bars now. Then it's time for the next payday and I think it's going to be new shoes time.
