Looks big to me, but an 80mm stem would make the total reach the same as the next size down and coupled with the longer head tube would be quite a relaxed position sportive bike.

It's hard to say whether it will suit you or not, since I'm 5'10" and I ride a size 51 Cervelo, which should be far too small.

Fat lard boy...... (well it was xmas)

I have put on 15 lb's this festive season. Anyone else "beat" that? Those climbs are goign to be hard when I get back to it on Monday....

Anyone with any knowledge of Orbea sizing here? First delve into the roadie world...

I'm 6'0" with a 31.5" inseam so recently ordered a 57cm Orbea Onix T105 online (2010 - reduced to £995 to clear) but I'm a little concerned that the frame may be too large.

The general consensus on other forums seems to be that Orbea's frames are bigger than equivalent sizes on other brands - I haven't received the bike yet so haven't tested it ...

Obviously if its too large I'll just need to return it but it'd be a shame :(
I'm 5'10 with a 32" inseam and my 22.5" Raleigh is 57cm according to my calculator. I still have the saddle quite a way up with an 80mm stem, and I've often wondered if I could do with a bigger frame so I don't have to reach so far down to use the drops. To comfortably use them I'd have to have the stem quite a long way out. With a bigger frame I'd probably need a shorter reach stem to compensate.

You're taller with shorter legs, so you'll have the saddle lower. The only problem you might come against is the bike might feel a bit short because your reach is going to be longer than mine. You can get around this with a longer stem and you can get them up to 100mm if you need it.

hah, I managed 10lbs from November 25th (my last ride of 2010) to December 31st. Combination of icy roads, man-flu and xmas binging.

Started 2011 with a detox though, and been out on the bike every day. Finding it very hard work - quite shocking how much fitness you lose in a month, and on the hills I was convinced the rear brake was jammed on! Also hard as I'm cycling on a very restricted diet (1000 kcals a day) so feeling empty after an hour on the bike.

Still, have lost 3.4lbs in a couple of days (I realise its a lot of water retention from the binging) so its worth it, or at least it will be by the end of Jan when the reliability trials start!

First ride of the year for me today, it's been over ten days since I last cycled and my was it tough. I've managed to gain 10lb too, which is going to take a couple of weeks at least to shed. Fortunately I'm heading up to the Lakes at the weekend for a week, that should help matters somewhat.

Isn't that kind of risky? I used such an extreme level of calorie restriction for about 6 months, and I know that I could not have done much cycling, if any. Walking 5 to 10 miles a day was tough enough, and that's much lower intensity than riding. I don't mean to tell you how to live your life, but it does seem a little dangerous...

Nah, it works for me in short doses. I'll only do it for a few weeks to get the xmas excess off, and I'm doing short 20 / 30 mile low level rides.

Apparently Iban Mayo literally didn't eat for 3 days at a time to shed pounds when he needed to!

Well, if it works for you then I guess it's all good. When I was taking in only 1000 kcals a day, just going for a long walk would leave me feeling light headed; cycling would have probably have caused me to pass out :|

Hopefully there won't be any more ice and snow this winter, and we can all enjoy riding again :)

No probs on my ride this morning. I've done a few runs and the odd short ride over Christmas though, to keep my fitness in. Have also managed to regain the weight I lost over Christmas, which is nice. I think it must have been mainly dehydration.

I am building a fixed gear racing bike at the moment also. It is based on a 1970's Jack Hearne 531 Reynolds tubed track frame, I recently had it painted by Armourtex and I will post some pics when I have added some wheels, crank etc

I am still pondering which one to take on the London to Brighton ride next summer :S

dude.

Hi, would be interested to see the pics of your restored Jack Hearne. My Dad knows Jack and used to race his bikes. There's one still hanging up in his garage!
