Yeah wheels Chinese, they're clinchers too not a tubs guy. Means they weight more but come in at 1509g total which aint bad.

Not bad, what's the frame mould based on and what's the finish like (any noticeable defects)?

Just realised you're local to me, feel free to invite me for a closer inspection and test ride lol :p

Well done on getting your ride done minty! Where did you come off - anywhere I'd know? Some bits of Anglezarke are a bit ropey, but I don't know if your route took in the nasty steep blind 90 degree bend over the bridge that really scares me!

I think I came off around 18miles in. I'll try and pinpoint where it happened. I was more gutted when I thought I had broken my bike and the fact that all the left side of new Jersey and shorts were covered in mud.

I surprised myself with the hills today, I maintained a good rhythm and got over them no problem. Maybe it was because I was well fueled on loads of sugary carby drinks :D

There was a climb near the start at anglezarke and they had a photographer at the top, can't wait to see the pictures
The whole event was ran very well with food and nutrition provided before and after. I'm going to sign of for a sportive called the winter sprinter which is in February which is around Stockport and cheshire.

The one sportive I did back in July was quite eye opening in terms of gung ho cyclists acting like the road was closed, riding 6 abreast, all over the road, no respect for lights... Not a wonder some of them run into bother.

Actually in the case of this guy, he wasn't part of the Sportive, he was on what looked like a club run.

I think the worst though are the big charity type rides, as you get so many people doing those who can't even handle a bike or haven't been on one since they were a child.

Frame looks are based off Giant TCR, but the geo is a bit different afaik. Granted its not the prettiest frame tbh but it strikes a very nice balance in Chinese frames, that is: weight (960g so very light not too much lighter in fact), its stiff, and cost, for £300 (all in inc delivery, tax, the lot) you get:

Frame (960g)
Carbon fork (340g)
Carbon seat post + collar (135g)
Couple of spare mech hangers
Full headset (105g)

And your welcome to have a go.... just need to finished it first :p

Oh and finish is absolutely perfect, I have checked it over very closely and cannot find a single blemish. BTW the frame is fully Di2 compatible too.

Nice! Off eBay?

what are the best cycle lights for seeing where you're going at night?

i.e. to avoid potholes etc. i got ones so i can be seen at dusk but not powerful enough to be any use other than that.

i've got a catseye rear one from halfords that does the night rider thing so just need a front.

see lux rating and reviews etc but they mean nothing to me. rather listen to real experience.

by night i mean - unlit country roads so you can't see the sides of the road.

What made you pick that particular seller - any previous experience with them? Love the look of the bike, like a stealth bomber. :D 6.5kg weight is incredible for £1000.
I ordered a carbon mtb frame off the seller soe time ago and they were very good... BUT:

Even sellers on ebay with different names are pretty much the same massive seller for pretty much all chinese carbon parts. In fact from this seller but under different name I got (all carbon): handlebar, stem, cages, seat, and I think my carbon wheels are from them as well (seller carbonwheels_2011).

You always have paypal to fall back on but I have nothing but praise for all my dealings.

Was that on Moor Road? Hard right bend then up, bending left, emerging from the trees with a view over the reservoir on the left? I did that climb yesterday and felt like I could die! We all had a good rest on the flat bit before pushing on. It's one of the hardest climbs I've successfully completed.

I've been invited to do a ~70K cycle next week, and need every advantage I can get :p

I'm currently using a hybrid from halfords (carrera subway), can I buy road bike tyres or do I have to buy new wheels as well?

Yeah, definitely up for that. I'm going to try a 65m ride today. I'll let you know how it went assuming I don't die of exhaustion.

I'll be starting off with that Platt Rd climb, then doing a double loop of Worsley, Cadishead, Leigh, and Warrington.

Oh god I'm tired...

I cut the 2nd loop short a bit because darkness was approaching and I didn't take my lights. The ride to work tomorrow is going to be interesting...
