With Cervelo R5 VWDs currently 50% off I came very close to triggering a divorce this week.

However, I managed to feed my habit with a second hand Cannondale CX9 frame from eBay. Now, since it's a CX does that mean I have to post in this and the MTB threads or am I ostracised from both?

Based on my time here, CX is OK, but Lord save you if you buy a hybrid :D

Actually, the CX is to replace a hybrid frame that I was converting into a CX. Unfortunately it was just too big with drop bars on it.

Most importantly I wanted something that would take tyres over 35mm wide. Since CX racing now limits tyres to 32mm it's hard to find a decent modern frame that will take anything bigger.

The hybrid would have taken anything up to 50mm which would have been brilliant when it snows.

Hi all, I'm ooking for some buying advice.

I live in a flat, and need some way of storing two bikes in a more space efficient manner than leaning them both against the walls or on each other. I'm looking for some sort of rack or stand that can hold two bikes on it. As it's a rented property, I can't fit anything to the walls.

Appreciated if anyone can help.

Couple of these?

I can't see anything in the description, but does it need to be screwed into the wall?

It says:
• Cushioned pads protect floors and walls.
• No permanent mounting required.

The racks posted by Vonhelmet are generally known as 'wheelbenders' because of the damage they do to your spokes and wheels every time the bike is moved or any pressure is put on it.

We have them at my current office and I hate them.

Quick question, I've just replaced the cassette and chain on my hybrid but it's caused a horrible clicking noise.

I've re indexed the gears and they shift smoothly so it's not that, the noise seems to be stemming from the rear detraileur area, could it be the jockey wheels being worn causing a clicking?

You need to email a photo of the bike (with hovis, of course) to a mod and you'll be given access to the super-secret CX subforum. Dont tell anybody about it tho

Might be just because a new chain/cassette doesnt always mesh perfectly together when they are brand new. After a while, they should wear a little and run smoother.

So, weather permitting are we on for a ride? Not been out for a few weeks now!:(

Yeah, I'm up for it... Looks slightly chilly with temps in single digits. Think I'll regret not having arm/leg warmers as I'm going to struggle between too cold and too hot... Ah well, they're next on the list.

Where do you want to meet? Morning will probably be best for traffic...

Got second place on a nearby segment, I'm gunning for 1st now, just need another 10 seconds! I like strava, without it I wouldn't have a clue how I measure up against other people.

I like strava for measuring my own progress. I'll never be seriously competitive on there, but I like that I can go out and get my achievements and set my PR's and see the improvements.

That was my original reason for signing up, but now I seem to be slightly addicted to segments. :o

I think it's quite a competitive area on Strava, I made a new segment a couple of weeks ago and it's already has about 20 riders on it (all since then), I'm 10th, need to sort that out really..

Once you create a segment it will include all past rides on that route too so they may be from that.
