i do ~2 hrs a day commuting and i really can't feel it yet! then again its not that cold YET.. 3c tomorrow morning for e.g. :)

i wish i had your body lol

thats my poblem,, i had cold feet and cold fingers today, and i could have been a tad warmer
went out in just a base layer and a lined windproof jersey/jacket thing i bought with shorts and leg warmers

oh well, time to go to bed and warm my feet up, my feet are still cold!!

Riding for an hour is fine for me but go to three hours and you'll feel the cold start to nip.

I used castelli merino wool socks + altura airstream overshoes which are lightweight compared to the pro/shimano npu+ ones.

Also road shoes are have vents up front to let air through in the summer so it isn't like riding in a normal trainer really.

maybe! but i dont think i would need warm cycling socks, shoes and overshoes just to cope with it :O then again i don't really feel much cold - december/january all i wear is a thin jacket and a t-shirt/long sleeve shirt :o

my nose is runny no matter the weather is if its cold i get runny nose if its hot ill get runny nose too :D

Not convinced.

My cycle route to work is finally clear of flooding so back on the saddle this morning.

My Castelli Espresso jacket lived up to its name very well! Super comfy and warm ride.

My feet were just about feeling the cold through my woolie boolies though, might need my overshoes if it gets colder.

When I went out in Saturday with Damien he had no gloves on a lot of the time. One of the other guys had 3 pairs of gloves on.

I definitely had them on this morning!

I can tell I've lost weight since last winter though. I wasn't shivering cold but I could feel it this morning, mainly on my face and hands. I bought my first ever long sleeved jersey this year so that pretty much sums it up. I remember it being -8 last winter and it not bothering me in my usual short sleeved top. I might have to stretch to a 2nd layer this winter if it keeps it up.

Cold toes this morning, but they may have been down to restricted circulation.

I've got three pairs of Giro shoes that fit like gloves but my Diadora winter boots aren't so good. Normally they are a bit loose in the toe box but I put the insole from my Factors in today and they were much tighter. Might have cut circulation off a bit (something also to be aware of if you are planning on wearing two pairs of socks).

I wish Giro did winter shoes. :(.

I'm not sure about commuting for much longer really.

Starting to get icy and cycling down roads that do not get gritted doesn't appeal to me.

Disc cyclocross with 35mm ice spikes. I had a whale of a time last year in Richmond Park in 6" of snow and ice. Best. Commute. Ever.

Like a boss.

I'm going to have to pick up some winter tyres for when it gets slippery. I don't have discs though :(

I've seen people use zip ties on their tyres in the snow, it works pretty well apparently.

Just checked out the price of Marathon Winter tyres. £40 a tyre!!

I'll just chuck the CX tyres that came with the bike back on I reckon. They're not puncture proof but I'll take a couple of flats over spending £80.

I tried this last year on my fixed wheel. It's not actually that good. It doesnt give any extra grip on ice, the plastic is too soft to dig in properly. It helps a bit on softer snow though.

You think the price is shocking; check out the weight. They make excellent value if you were buying by the kilogram.
