It's a good idea to always unclip the same foot as you approach junctions and such. That way it just becomes second nature and you won't have to think about it.

You will, at some point, have a clipless moment when you forget to unclip, come to a halt and fall over. Accept it and don't worry about it. It happens to everyone. Everyone.

yeah i see my club unclipping when comming up to junctions, i shall do the same, just hope i get used to them very quickly as i got to try and keep up with the others! lol

as long as the bike falls ontop of me so i dont sctach it then its ok lol

Not sure how many miles I'll do today. But clothing is on the radiator being pre-warmed :p thermometer showing -3c.

Just been for a run and its pretty slippy out around here. Frozen then rained sometime in the early morning, i wouldn't want to cycle tbh.

It doesn't seem too bad around here in SE London, but I still couldn't face going for a ride this morning and so I went for a run instead. I haven't been for a "proper" ride in ages though, perhaps I should go out tomorrow morning... oh, but it's so very cold! :(

There was ice on the hills when I was out yesterday. It was run off from the fields and hills that had frozen on the roads. I had one moment when descending when I locked up on some ice. I kept the bike upright and - hallelujah - remembered to unclip my foot and so didn't fall off.

Absolutely no chance of me getting any miles in this weekend, was planning on commuting to work tomorrow but it was -6 through the night here and the roads are treacherous this morning. We're expecting similar temps tonight and tomorrow along with snow. After skidding off last weekend and busting my shoulder I don't think it's too big or clever to risk it.

Managed 30 miles, and yeah it was icy. Had a minor off going round a tight bend on a back road. My clothing was ideal except for gloves hands were numb after 2 miles and that was the only reason I cut my ride short. Need some under gloves.

bs man! was colder yesterday and it was fine :) just man up and do it!

and i don't think there's a point for clip in pedals for me.. i stop so much while commuting through central london that its a bit pointless really... would make it harder for me and my "mini clips" are perfect for that i think

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fair weather cyclist; I ride to work on a daily basis regardless of the weather. The only thing that has stopped me in the past is ice, but I may even be able to cope with that this year with the studded tyres.

When it comes to riding at the weekend for leisure, I find myself lacking the desire at the moment. A lot of it is to do with how difficult I find it to keep my hands and feet warm, despite investing in relatively expensive footwear and gloves. Despite what the rules might say, there's no actual obligation to ride every day :p

i always take the weekends off ;D i ride enough through the week :) plus the little problem i have with my knee always comes back on friday so i need time to relax my muscles through the weekend :) all im saying is that its not that cold yet, roads might look icy but i haven't really felt any difference yesterday :)

I got some Sealskinz Merino liner gloves for under my normal gloves, very cheap from here, few quid cheaper than Amazon even:- http://www.bikesyoulike.co.uk/product/5056/SealSkinz_Thermal_Liner_Gloves_2013

Ordered early one morning and they turned up next day. :D
