still did enough damagethough, out of work for 5 months, permanent flickering vision in right eye, hearing issues, still get dizzy and am sick in bad spells. However, i am getting substantially (massively) better. I managed a 90km ride last weekend!

Yea. glad you are beginning to get back to normal.
I joined CTC the other week, mainly for discount at Cotswold outdoor wear and by joining I have now got third party insurance by default.

Pitch black, no street lights on my country road and this **** has got a black top on, dark jeans and no ****ing lights what-so-ever.

What are people's views on pollution masks? Particularly the Respro ones they sell in cycle shops.
Cycling in central London seems to be giving me a chronic cough and constantly gunked up, dirty nostrils.
I wouldn't wear one because I don't like the way they look.
But I did see something recently about just how much Cyclists in London are breathing in pollution. There was some kind of study done on Cyclists and Non-Cyclist commuters.
It's another reason why it's good to have the likes of ASLs enforced. There is nothing worse than sitting there when some Scooter or Motorbike rider pulls in front of you so you've got a face full of their exhaust.
Yeah they look pretty menacing, a bit Hannibal-esque. However, if they prevent my respiratory system getting raped by exhaust fumes I would be willing to wear one. I think cycle helmets look silly but would rather wear one than not.

Just got home from my first commute in proper clothing and I'm impressed.
Managed to find some large outeredge bibshorts lying in the shop so they are now mine. It was soooooooo cosy and warm it's unreal and the way it deals with moisture is epic.
So far I'v been called a few C,F and Ds by a passanger of a mini, slid my back wheel out whils going round a roundabout,got the **** taking 'looking like a car' and wearing lycra and got a 2 litre bottle of strongbow chucked at me. Perfect day
The car drive thing was kinda my fault. I was behind a bus doing about 25mph up a slight incline, once over the hill and down the other side I had to be in the right hand lane so I looked behind and saw a car pretty far back, picked up pace towards the bus, look back again and the car is still quite a bit back, pull out and mash it out the saddle and on the drops and I get beaped and swore at. I did look twice but I swear they must have been going pretty rapid. I'd go with a 50/50 split on that one....given that I was doing 25mph before getting more speed and must have got to about 30mph.

A few things pee me off about this upto and including the fact that, even after 10 minutes, no one has removed the bike and the Focus car from an obviously busy junction resulting in more mayhem
That stupid bint in the Focus should be done with careless driving. How the hell she didn't see that guy I do not know.

They didn't remove the bike as the guy who got hit didn't want it removed. Presumably so that when the police came the 'crime scene' was in tact.

What is the legal position on "tampering" with an accident site after the police are called? If you've got enough pictures is it ok to clear the road or can you get in trouble for that?
That way of thinking, although understandable, is incorrect.
There is sufficient evidence from other sources including a number of witnesses, video and still image and statements for a successful prosecution. All they have done is cause other potential problems by making a busy road junction even more hazardous.
The amount of people that think, when they have a road accident like this, that they should leave the wreckage(s) in the position they came to rest is crazy, is not required and just causes problems. Of course, if people are injured and therefore the vehicle(s) cannot be moved then that is different but in the above incident, this is not the case.

Saw a guy cycling along Ealing Broadway/Uxbridge Road last night at around 1am whilst there was still a fair bit of traffic around - wearing all black, on a black bike with no lights or reflectors!!!
That vid in Greenford is unbelievable! THe first part was bad enough but then running the guy over..
On another note, went out for my longest ever ride yesterday - just over 100km down to Box Hill via Richmond Park. I was with a couple of other cyclists and was glad as i'm not very experienced and going through some of the traffic was a bit scary but it was fun when I got there. Only problem was that I'm such a terrible descender after having an accident earlier this year

I take it the 100km doesn't include coming down from Nottingham.
Once you get used to box then ask them to take you to Coombe Bottom near Shere, now that's a lovely climb / decent.
I would have done the same if it happened to me.
I'd rather the Police arrived and saw the scene exactly as it was, so it went into their report as such.
At the end of the day it is a road accident where a man was run over, so what if it inconveniences people for a few minutes?
I'm sure the Police would probably have cleared it fairly quickly after arriving, but they didn't arrive as fast as I thought they would.

I fixed the puncture on the Bob last night ready for today. Another shard of glass 
I thought I'd put the 15T cog on with a half-link, but it wouldn't quite roll into the drop-out far enough. I think the 16T cog might be a slightly slacker fit. So now the quandary is since the 15T I've got is a 3/32", do I buy a new 15T 1/8" cog to see if it fits...

By the time the call is made to the call centre, details taken, passed to the correct police control room covering that area, passed to the cops attending and then the travel time; I would say the 10-ish mins it took overall was pretty good.

That is a crash hotspot, Every year there is atleast 5 crashes.
