I take it the 100km doesn't include coming down from Nottingham.

Once you get used to box then ask them to take you to Coombe Bottom near Shere, now that's a lovely climb / decent.

What do you mean? *remembers to update location which is 2 years out of date* :D

Nah came down from Ealing so went through Richmond/Kingston - that was a bit of a pain. I'm used to cycling around quiet suffolk roads and that was the first time i'd done any cycling in London so it was a bit scary! (I've only been cycling a year on/off). I'll definitely be trying some more climbs around there, especially once i've got the hang of the downhill bit :)

THis cycling lark is much better for building fitness than i thought. Went for my first run in 2 months, did my usual old 2 mile route expecting a lot of pain, but i actually shaved 1min off of my time (down from 18 mins to 17). Quite pleased considering i had been stuck at 18 mins for about 6 months when i ran 4 days a week.

[EDIT] Followed it up with my staple 40 pressups however, seems the stomach muscles have suffered in those two months. Think i've torn something!

Join me on the Dragon next year. I'm aiming for 120 miles of Welsh mountain (admittedly not the Alps) in 7 hours. Having a target to aim for works wonders.

If I can get some decent training in then why the hell not, I may as well. :D
I've put the youtube video "out to tender" on facebook, see if any of my mates are daft enough to want to do it with me. :D

^^^ So many pairs of sunglasses yet cloudy skies and no sun.

I think I technically got scalped last night. I was overtaking a bus at a bus stop and some idiot in a car tried to overtake into oncoming traffic, which I saw as headlights then sudden braking behind me. When I looked around there was another cyclist VERY close behind me who tried to undertake me  as I merged back over to the left. As we went further down the road I could kind of tell he was going hell for leather trying to get past because I could see his light waving around side to side. I made a bit of distance on the hill and he came past uttering something while spinning at about a billionty rpm. He got ahead at the lights because I was on the fixed gear and have toeclips. I sort of felt like I'd been knocked off my smug pedestal at the time, but the more I think about it the more I think he was just a ****?

Not sure if this is appropriate or not, will delete if so...

I have a pair of Shimano tr31s, size 42 for sale. They haven't been used other than to try them on, so essentially brand new in box. They're £80 brand new so I'll sell them for ~£60 if someone wants a good pair of tri shoes!

I get it quite often when **** heads overtake me just after I've crossed a set of lights. I suspect they hang back rather than joining me at the front of the queue, so that they're already doing 15mph when they overtake me. I used to make a point of chasing them down and getting back in front of them, but now I let them get on with it. If their ego dictates that they need to get in front of the fat guy with panniers, then more power to them.

I'll have a look for those Crud RoadRacers if you still want them, by the way. I'd totally forgotten about them until seeing your post just now.

All that sort of talk is exactly the same as the typical driver...
Must get in front.....
Sounds pretty ironic from where I'm sat.
Fair enough drafting someone or trying to keep up with someone that overtook you but it goes no further than "a bit of fun" for me.
So what if they cycle like a *****. Let them get on with it.
I wouldn't lower myself to their crap standards trying to "get back in front" just to prove... Well, nothing!

I tend to hang back on guys to let them get to the pace they are happy with....if it's slower than me then I'll overtake and say alright or something.

Last night some guy was like 'On you go big yin' as I sat behind him to get warmed up as I just started my ride.

Need a new rear tyre as this one is nearly like a square and is dancing around when I'm climbing and it's slide twice on the same roundabout. Thought this cycling was meant to be cheaper than a car :(

I haven't seen him before, a guy in his 40's with a bit of a greying beard, full lycra and a flash looking bike. I think he was in black and blue with a blue bike, a Scott or something?

I'd forgotten too. Fancy a catch-up on Sunday morning?
