Well, I've wire brushed down a frame before, took me about 15 minutes with my angle grinder because its so damned powerfulThats interesting, we have just been through exactly the same thing with an old bike my dad has - right down to researching the peugeot team colours and looking for stickers (couldnt find any).
If your going to get it powdercoated, i would recommend getting them to prep the frame for you. It's a lot of work to do yourself.
If you do prep it yourself, you can get a 'paint remover' drill attachment instead of a wire brush. Its a bit softer and is less likely to damage the frame (and, not surprisingly, its actually better at removing paint as well)
Its very difficult to get all of the paint out of the small corners in the frame, especially the little triangle bit behind the bottom bracket.
Post some pics of your progress - im quite interested in this
edit: Oh, also, buy yourself this![]()
. But, yeah I guess long term and effort wise its easier. So I just need to find someone who can do it for me - do you reckon they would be up for decaling it as well? As I'm pretty cack at that type of thing.
I have the Prendas kit
