Sportive photos out, none amazing but still tempted to buy one even though I look fat. Too many beers!

Bit on the broke side so think I'm going to have to buy some second hand jerseys on ebay... Think I'll stick to buying new shorts, though. Ick.

Hubs £50, rims £36, spokes £34. The jig cost me about £20 and I already had the pot of grease which was £10. Plus a lot of spare time. So the material cost for the wheels is about £120, the same wheels built by spa cycles are £200.

interesting stuff. might have a look at that myself

I think you're complicating things too much and spending money you don't need to spend. Just get out there and beast some hills. Then beast them again, harder. Then beast them again, harder. See where I'm going?

Or ride day-to-day on a fixed gear or single-speed. It'll put some serious strength in your legs and flexibility in your riding. It's all very well riding at the same high cadence all the time but it doesn't half make you an inflexible rider.

Memphisto,

Lose some weight off the bike
Lose some weight off yourself
Go batter yourself on the nearest hill until you fall off
Rest 2 days then go batter yourself again.
Rinse and repeat until you win.

lol seems simple enough

bike is as light as i can get it I think without spending a lot of money, Im not, battering hills seems the best bet then, theres a decent one about a mile from where i live so I think I'll start hammering that again and again.

cheers guys

Edit I assume by battering the hills it would be better for me to do this long term sat down and build to that ? or just continue as is ?

Yes you should try and get used to sitting as it's the best way to climb a hill of any length, standing will always tire you out faster and it's worse the heavyier you are.

Yea stay seated and power the pedals in the full downward arc.
Try focusing more on pushing the pedals forward and back as well as up and down.

Got to be the most terrible weather ever this week. Once again. Friday was the only day looking half decent, until I refresh the BBC weather page. It now shows rain! GAAA!

just throwing this idea out there guys but who would be up for an ocuk cycling meet ? stay over in a hotel / camping then a casual ride out anything from 30-100 miles depending on ability and and at least 1 or 2 nights of getting to know each other ?

Yup, I'm in as long as it's "base camp" and not having to transport camping gear on the bike

Not quite so sure about the "getting to know each other" bit though!!! :D

I'm not Camp as a pair of tents!
