Degreaser is fine and I imagine the lube is Teflon based? Would suggest a wet lube instead of dry. I use either Finish Line or Weldtite which is multi use.

Planning to cycle from Bristol to Caerphilly today to catch the end of Stage 6 of the ToB. Hoping the weather will hold out. Looks a bit iffy this morning but with a bit of luck will be nice and sunny this afternoon.

Dunno about it being teflon based, I'll check this evening, but I thought dry lubes were better as it meant they got less crud stuck to them and didn't turn into grinding paste?

My new bike has finally arrived (screw UPS with a rusty rake...) so I'm no longer a mountain bike commuting scrub.

Of course instead of buying something sensible that you can easily buy mudguards etc for I've got a racey CX bike but it's pretty and I like it.

If anyone knows any mudguards that will work well with a lack of rack/mudguard mount points and with canti brakes, please let me know. Even if it'd take some p-clip jiggery pokery it's fine by me.

PS: Using cleats feels so strange...

Get an Ass Saver:

http://ass-savers.com/

Had mine for a few weeks and judging by the amount of mud on the ass-saver and not on my back whilst not as good as a full on mud gaurd they're pretty awesome.

Good call. Thanks.

I might have to use a normal MTB rear mudguard (seatpost style) I reckon, because there's next to no room between the brake cable and the tyre. Or it might be possible to adjust the cable length to give more room. I'll take it to the LBS and ask there. There's a bit more wiggle room on the front to fit one though.

Not sure if the cantis will be a problem, but I have a pair of SKS Race Blade XLs for my cross bike. They fit over the 35mm Kenda Small Blocks that I had on it, though anything bigger would be a problem.

That's good to know, thanks. So long as I can macguyver it to fit the cantis (if necessary) I reckon they'll do the job then.

The Race Blades attach to the fork at the front, and the seat stays at the rear, so the brakes are largely irrelevant as long as you have clearance.

my Endura Pro 260 arm and leg warmers came today

tried them on (both in a M/L) leg warmers fit perfectly, the arm warmers are missive over my bisceps but fine on my wrists

i must have really small biceps! well, i know i am weak in upper body strength!

HELP

Has anybody got a Topeak Mini Dual G pump?
At the moment I've got two flat tyres because I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.
I've got Presta valves and the Topeak does 3 types : Schrader, Presta & Dunlop.
I then noticed you have to turn something round inside the pump which I've done but I still can't get a good seal.
Anybody had the same/similar pump and know what I might be doing wrong?

If it's the one I think it is, unscrew the plastic part which goes onto the valve and there should be a rubber piece inside (you may have to knock it out). Turn that rubber piece the other way round and screw the plastic bit back on. I ditched my pump which was similar as it wasn't nearly as good as the reviews suggested it should have been.
