dont know if you heard Jonny///M but Tom Anderson the 48yr old club captain of the Falkirk Club died on sat out during a club run.

Not sure what happened exactly but i gather he fell and died of his injuries.

couple of the guys from our shop going to the funeral on Friday.

Be safe ppl!

That is what I heard on the radio, thought I'd heard the name :(

Poor guy :(

Working in a shop I hear all of the horror stories, I think the last one was the guy getting hit head on whilst out on the lunch time ride with fellow police officers. Can't let it get to you though or else you wouldn't leave the house.

what do people do in the wet?

See too many idiots on pushbikes with no lights and in black!

I'm thinking flashing rear light, hivis long-sleeved cycle jacket from aldi, a helmet and winter gloves from aldi. Would this be ok?

I reckon i'd wear shorts too as i don't get cold once riding?

I've got wet weather jacket and trousers but would i get too hot in them?

Get a fibre flare too. They're great and very versatile. I usually attach mine to my helmet. I've uploaded some pics somewhere in this thread.

I agree about the idiots. A while back I just about saw a cyclist weaving down an unlit road, dressed completely in black, no lights, fag in his mouth, one hand on the bars and mobile phone to his ear. People like that give all cyclists a bad name.

They do - i'm not the greatest but i know common sense... things like wearing a hi-vis jacket over a black bag if it's quite dark.

Will have a look for a fibre flare thing.

prevention is better than cure but i'll end up looking like a xmas tree... and coming up to December.. lol

I have this rear light - bought it because it does the knight rider thing like Kit lol.

I've got a pair of fibre flares, I can confirm that they're awesome.

helpimcrap, I've got a really thin windproof coat I wear when it's wet. It doesn't stop the rain but it stops the wind from freezing you when you're wet. Works pretty well as I hate being too hot.

I nearly hit a cycling ninja this evening; he was hugging the kerb to keep out of the way of traffic. Unfortunately he was coming the other way at the time.

I have a Fiber Flare on my back pack for when it gets really bad but generally I make do with a Hope District 3 on the back. Funnily enough I don't get many folks drafting me.

As for the wet weather. If I'm on my way to work then I wear a water proof jacket and I've got Endura Stealth Lite waterproof bib tights. However, I only wear them because I hate putting on damp kit to come home in. Tonight on the way home in the rain it was jersey, gillet, shorts and knee warmers. I could have done without the knee warmers. It wasn't cold so being wet didn't matter.

Looking at the shortys at the moment for the different colours as not sure if it'd be better to have a red one or a yellow one to replace or compliment my existing red rear light.

Get a red and a blue one and set them flashing. People may think you're more official if they see them in their rear view mirror :p

(I've not tested this yet but I want to!)

For wet weather I just wear a cheap waterproof jacket I got from Decathlon, and my overshoes. I don't bother with waterproof pants as I'd roast, and usually end up taking off my jacket anyway unless it's pouring down.

I've been after a waterproof that I can bundle into a jersey pocket for ages... Hadnt thought of Decathlon, but sure enough they've got jackets for a tenner. Think I'll be picking up one of those next month.
