Remember I asked about my rear tyre falling apart? Well, it gave up the ghost yesterday about halfway through my ride. I slid a couple of times, and when I got home I found that the strip of extra compound had properly come loose, with the rubber perishing underneath. My neighbour has lent me a Schwalbe Lugano for the time being, but I'm going to get along to Evans and pick up a Gatorskin I think.

Lucky it didn't give out on a nasty bend or anything... I'll change it at the first sign of trouble next time.

Those Aztecs are rubbish, I used some in an emergency when they were all my LBS had. Aztec is right, every time I pulled the levers I felt like I was a human sacrifice.

Kool Stop Salmon are good but Swissstop Green are better.

When comparing price remember that Kool Stops come I'm packs if two and Swissstops in packs of four.

Right-o! Best avoided then!

Kool Stops for £6 a pair plus £4 shipping at Spa Cycles sound OK?

You ride within 50 yards of my house every day.
I can indefinitely lend you a gel seat cover I bought from Halfords if you want because my bum has hardened up now.
I don't use the padded shorts I bought from Swinnertons either.

Sorry mate only just seen this. That's really generous, I'm not using my bike again until Wednesday so I will see how I get on with that no I've had a couple days to recover and then get in touch . Thanks:)

I've decided that I really need a brighter light on the front. I've got a really poor bike hut set front and back as I never really saw myself riding at night.

Are these eBay clones any good? Ideally I want to spend as little as possible!

Does anybody have a link to the light and wide angle lens?

I had an ebay one before and the charger broke so I picked up one of the one23 branded ones we do which RRP for £80. I will be paying more than the price of an ebay one but the overall build feels better mainly the charger and battery though. Lamp itself is the exact same.

I have two now and will be using both offroad but only the one onroad pointed towards the ground most of the time.

I don't, no. I don't think it needs a wide angle lens as it's a headlamp style bulb, so it throws a pretty wide beam compared to just a torch.

If I was you I'd try it out before buying a different lens for it, it's an astonishing bit of kit for the price!

SK mudguards fitted, bike serviced and cleaned, ready for action.

Just not sure I am! I've got 3 weeks to build up some mileage in my legs, and then its back to all out commuting, I'll be looking at 120 miles a week :) from December on.

Just started the new commute today; 61km round trip. Felt like crap today.

Also, just read a post on BR from one of the regulars in the commuting section, he rode into the back of a stationary van at the end of October and broke C7, T1 and T2. He's now officially paraplegic with no feeling from the arms down and limited hand movement.

It's horrible news.
