Cool. I'm still fine for it too. The weather looks ok for Sat so far. Where do you fancy going? I'm up for taking on Moor Rd again (I hate that hill with a passion but I'm too competitive to quit) unless you've a better idea? Perhaps go up to Belmont? I've not been up there yet.

I've sent you a message in trust with some info. I'll send minty the same in a moment. No idea where we'll be going - Anglezarke is popular for us on our recent rides. I'm planning to do Belmont myself next Friday on the off-chance you're around in the day!

FAO: minty - You've not set up your trust, so I can't email you about tomorrow! If you're still interested in coming out with us, we'll be starting at about 8am from my house in Atherton, and probably heading up to 4 Lane Ends and out towards Chequerbent if it's easier for you to meet us there. Send me a message in trust and I'll send a few more details. I'd rather not post up all my details here if I can avoid it!

Hi mate, i think i have set up my trust now, but unfortunately i have been asked to work tommorow therefore i wont be able to join you guys :(
Maybe another time then.

8am?!?! What kind of mental people are up at 8am at the weekend?

Any chance we can make it a bit later, assuming your usual crew isn't coming along? If they are I'll just have to deal with it.

Edit: Just saw your trust. 8am it is then :P

Ah, gutted. Sorry to hear that.

And sorry about the time, [Damien]! At least you won't be too phased by the cold, what with riding to work!

Yeah, cold doesn't really bother me. I end up taking my gloves off by the time I get to the top of Newbrook Rd hill. That's how bad I am.

To you folks who are using high powered torches on bar/helmet mounts - what batteries are you using?. Specifically has anyone purchased additional 18650 type batteries for them?. I've got 2 x Ultrafire WF502B torches here which are simply amazing bar mounted with a couple of Twofish Lockblocks but the other day one of the batteries decided to give up the ghost. Now looking to purchase a couple of replacements but the different manufacturer options out there are numerous to say the least. Had a look on eBay and it's hard to tell what is good quality and what isn't.

My current batteries are 2600 mAh 3.7v Ultrafires, they came with the torches. What should I be looking for, does it follow that a higher mAh will be better?. I've asked this question in the LED Torch thread too, hopefully someone who knows more about these things than I do can advise.

I have a load of 18650s. I bought around 20 cheap chinese ones for a 24hour race. They are not particularly good, i would recommend getting some proper branded ones. Have a look on torchythebatteryboy for a comparison of 18650s. Probably best to get a decent charger with them as well.

I use a mixture of Samsung and Sony cells, I've found they work best. Panasonic ones are good also, I find Ultrafire don't meet the specs and tend to struggle with higher currents, but they're not bad, just no way 3000mAh or whatever they claim to be.

Mark Renshaw has signed up to Strava, hes taken the KOM around the racetrack here.

The bloke who has most of the local KOM is over a minute slower than Mark on the climb to the top of the track and he thrashes me on pretty much all of them. Huge difference between an average rider and a pro! It's a 2km climb, average gradient of 7.6% so that time difference is huge.

Interested to find out more about Strava, I have downloaded the iPhone app and registered but my iPhone battery and GPS is not very good.

How are all you all tracking your strava stats: iPhone, Garmin?

Whats a good starter Garmin computer that works well with Strava, how much roughly?
