Fantastic price on Conti 4 Season tyres at Cycle Surgery at the moment. the 25mm have sold out but you can still order, they also have 23mm & 28mm 4 seasons on offer.

They're £25.79 each on offer but if you add 2 to your basket you get one half price making them £19.34ea including delivery. (5% quidco too)

Thanks.. definitely can't justify this in light of Xmas but ordered anyway as my PR3s are a bit of a puncture risk in winter :D

Will order thanks,
Should be better than my 'slick' tires for winter conditions ;)

these came on my triban 3 - http://www.decathlon.co.uk/700x23-road-rigid-bead-id_8173250.html

i've done nearly 600 miles on them and they are holding fine! comfy/fast/grippy too can't really complain for the price!

edit

cycling to work tomorrow morning should be interesting.. weather says light snow but really who believes in weather these days.. :) we'll see what it looks like, if it snows ill take my bmx out for a 22 mile ride mwhaha.

I wish I had bothered to fit my studded tyres at the weekend; I ended up having to get the tram in, because I didn't want to risk riding on the untreated side roads. I guess I'll have to do it this evening.

A quick heads up, Planet X are doing merino arm warmers for £4.99 (apparently same as Enduras who sell them for £17.99). They also have 3 pairs of merino 'thicky' or 'thinny' socks for £10.

I'll probably pick some up and some gloves, my old ones are shot to pieces and don't do a good job in keeping my hands warm!!

A note to anybody planning on picking up some Planet-X/On-One merino base layers; the ones labelled "perform" have a coolmax mesh back. The perform ones may be better for cycling in as they'll probably breathe better, though I didn't realise this when I ordered one.

The thick merino socks are pretty good, as are the coolmax ones. I would say that they're the best value for money socks that I've ever come across.

Please spec me some winter tyres which are good on ice. That ride into work was scary. I don't care if it puts loads of time on my journey. Thanks.

I've just ordered some Marathon Winter's. I'm not sure if they'd fit a proper road bike though. I've ordered them in 35mm.

No they won't unfortunately. I suffer from not being able to fit winter tyres to my bike. Wonder if I can use that as an argument to buy a more suitable winter bike..

Of course you can :)

I'm terrible though. I only got my CX bike in August and I'm already eyeing up next years model, with disc brakes. Someone needs to take my wallet away from me...

Yes, tell my wife please :D!

Just follow standard procedure: Buy it and only tell her it cost 25-50% of what it actually did.

I'll probably end up selling my 2012 Crux Elite next year tbh and getting the disc version of the 2013 Crux Elite when the prices drop next autumn. The one thing I don't like about this bike is the brakes. I'm too used to discs.

With moving house and weekends full of children's birthday parties I still haven't finished my CX and for that reason I bottled this morning's commute.

I see an evening of spannering before me.

My next bike purchase will be a CX bike with discs, but that won't be for a while yet...

Cycled in for the first time in ages today, two notable things, any fitness I may have had seems to have disappeared after just a month of not cycling ¬_¬ and secondly didn't feel as cold as I thought it would (left at 6am), met office said it was 0c but had no real issues with the cold and that was without overshoes (but with 2 pairs of socks), got my overshoes at the office now so can use them but thinking they might be too hot now :p
