Looks steel framed and very heavy, at least it's a rigid fork though.

Perhaps it might be better to go to the shop and try a few out. I feel dirty.

Become a cyclocrosser then. 35mm studded ice tyres fit on my Caad CX9.

Well, they will when I've finished building it.

I've already spent £1000 on my road bike and didn't expect to pay one more penny out (within reason).
At least it should get me fitter and when I get back on my racer I'll fly.

I'm actually faster on my bike :o used to use 3-4th gear on the back now I go for 4-5th.. or I'm getting fitter lol. Cycling home at 22.00 in heavy rain was baaaad.. quite an experience! I nearly lost it while changing lanes, front wheel slipped at ~20mph !

Great ride in this morning. Absolutely flew in, second best time to work.

20.3mph avg over 14.8 miles. Pretty chuffed with that for the last day of the week!

Never got round to ordering the Edge 800 before. Merlin have a "Double Discount" going this weekend, so 20% off means the Enduro Bundle comes in at £312...

25 today!

Happy birthday to me....from me.:D

I'm 35 today, you youngsters make me sick ;)

Can i spy gore wind proof gloves in that lot?? If so a report in the cold we have now would be great, in need new gloves as the endura or altura i had from mtb days are no good when its this cold and im certain its the wind at higher speeds!

Garmin just announced its replacement so i expect there will be many a 'christmas sale' on them as the new one is due early 2013.

Until i go for a winter bike, likely for next winter and cx is pretty high on the list what is the best way to setup my mtb?

Im thinking of marathon tyres as they will be ok on fire routes (have a 30+ mile ex rail line this way i often ride) and a set of mud guards - i have a upgraded GT hard tail and i can lock the front fork so thinking with some non 2.2 mtb tyres it will be half decent on the road!

I plan to use them tomorrow so I will let you know how they are. They aren't actually the winter or "thermo" glove of that range though so I'm a bit worried they are more suitable for spring/autumn rather than winter.

Will be interested to know how they perform too. Really like the Gore stuff!

Cheers for that, i have one of their wind stopper jackets and its amazing, i imagine that when you stop the wind getting through you need less warming materials inside so i remain hopeful!!!

Last Sunday I went out on a club ride and woke up Monday morning in hospital.

Before that happened I was going to keep cycling through winter but if its icy its just not worth it no matter what tyres or pressures you use.

Wow, hope you're OK. Are you going to the Beeston RC christmas curry on the 15th?

Just had a bit of a tour of my new workplace, nice to see one of the first Trek Series 6 Madone bikes off the production lines :).

That's why I'm hanging my Boardman up for winter now they've started gritting.

Might sound ponsy, but as I've spunked £3k on that thing, I want to look after it!!
I might do the same with my Bob Jackson. It's not especially valuable, but it's quite a special frame and probably one of the only survivors. Another winter in this salt will really hurt it, so I'm probably going to swap the running gear to another frame for the winter.

But then I'll have a bare frame. And that might tempt me to find a vintage Campagnolo or Dura Ace groupset for it. Oh well, these things happen :D

Do you know what happened? Just slipped on ice or was there some sort of crash?
