Road Cycling Essentials

I know a handful of you commute on the same roads I use. Are any of you Canadian/American and wearing blue this morning in Feltham and asked me where my shortcut was?

Just a update on my cycling and gear.

I'm really impressed by my castelli gabba jacket, it's short sleeve but it's excellent breathability and keeps me very warm without sweating.

Not as impressed by castelli nano over shoes as after a couple of rides the stitching around the heel has started to come undone :-\

Canyon ultimate six, is as always very fast, sometimes I **** myself when I overtake cars going 35mph:-D .

One question though 23mm or 25mm tyres?
I've always gone 23 for the speed and weight advantage.
But wondering if 25 would be good to try and what advantage I'll see if any?

25mm tyres have less rolling resistance than 23mm tyres and so should actually be quicker. Also they offer more comfort and grip which should, again, see you go quicker.

Whether the differences would actually be noticeable is debatable.

It's probably one of those things where Bradley Wiggins might notice the difference between 23mm and 25mm because his time over 100 miles is 20 seconds quicker one way or the other... I doubt most of us would notice much.

I can tell it's getting cold in the mornings now. I've just had to order some liner gloves to wear under my normal ones (been getting cold fingers) and I've started wearing a short sleeved jersey under my long sleeved one.

Still rocking shorts, well ventilated shoes and no overshoes though so I'm not turning completely sane...

just listened to that, was quite interesting, didn't like people coming in and bringing stuff up AGAIN after it had been discussed (ie helmets are mandatory in auz, we know but a) it doesn't save you from a truck driving over you b) it leads to a drop in use, c)are we tackling knife crime by giving everyone stab vests?)
