I spoke to Derek at wheelsmith a few months ago and he specced me: Velocity A23 rim on Novatec Superlight hubs and Sapim CX-Rays. Wen't straight over my head tbh :p

I also spoke to my local wheelbuilder and he loaded up the madison b2b site and said he couldn't build anything as durable/light for the same price as the Dura Ace C24's.

Nice spot, need to pop out but I'll have to email wheelsmith again later. I won't lie the C35 is largely for the bling factor over the C24's also to match a bike build for '13 with Dura Ace 9000 groupset.

Whilst discussing wheels all Planet-X wheels will be 10% off tomorrow for one day only.

Yeah it's hard to resist the bling!

When my Cosmics wear out I really want some Campagnolo Bullet 50 Ultras, but realistically something like the Wheelsmith Race23 would be far more appropriate.

I think they look quite good all in black but I wonder how many miles it will take for the braking surface to wear down to silver again.

There was a bit of banter between the wheelsmith guy and another wheelbuilder on bikeradar forum.. wheelsmith said they almost always stay black, the other guy says they almost always scrub off... I guess it comes down to how well you look after them, if you regularly cleaned the rim and pads to remove grime, you could probably prevent them changing colour

Can whoever does the challenges for the OcUK Endomondo group set it so it records Cycling - Transport, Cycling - Sport & Mountain biking for next year? I'm smarting from my finish as half of my miles were commuting miles which haven't been counted! :p

Don't worry, we can add as many sports as we like to the challenges now, so it's possible to combine "Cycling - Sport", "Cycling - Transport" and "Riding downhill in the mud" into one challenge. For those of you who are interested, I've set up a "most miles in 2013" challenge on Endomondo here.

horrible weather around me today :(
but as i'm at home and not at uni. my mothers partner has a turbo trainer so been on that for 2 and half hours :)
now thinking they are defiantly worth the money and will get one

I've been VERY lucky this year. Not had a single puncture on my commuter bike, so that's almost 2k of riding hassle free.

On my Boardman, I've had two 'punctures', both snake bite ones caused by riding over potholes and the rear rim hit the tarmac too hard. Proper annoyed I was for one of them as that was in the middle of another 100 mile ride!

I might be busy in the coming weekends moving house, but I should be able to squeeze some rides in. Whereabouts are you?

near Watlington, close to Junc6 M40

i joined it when i was doing mountain biking, and it picked up my miles, i also started doing cycling - sport now, again no problems

I thought it was just "all forms of cycling" or does it not working like that?

Anybody else not getting drunk tonight so they can take advantage of the good weather tomorrow?

I feel like having a productive NYD instead of nursing a hangover.:D

Grinding out a steady 23 miles on an exercise bike will definitely improve your cycling, but there are more effective ways.
I suggest doing a proper structured workout for one of those sessions each week. Check if your gym does spinning classes, they are great. If not, you can download spinning podcasts (tri hardist is quite good).

I would also not take much notice of the speed/distance reading on an exercise bike - it doesnt relate to the real world at all. You'd be much better off getting a heart rate monitor and training with heart rate zones. (theres loads on info and sample workouts around based on HR zones if you do a quick google)

no i mean actual cycling :) i cycle to work everyday and where ever i need on the weekends too :)

You should make a new year's resolution to start wearing a helmet.:p

cmon! i wear a helmet! when ever i go on a track bmxing/dirt racing i always have one :) not while commuting to work tho..

I remember seeing some videos (possibly on Youtube) of cycle climbs filmed from a helmet cam with on-screen data like gradient to use for training - does anyone know what I'm on about?
