Well played, when do you get the results?

When cycling NSW pull their finger out, took ages last year, not sure why as we all used transponder chips. Going off Strava I'm not too slow, ten minutes behind the fastest riders.

It was done almost totally in a group yeah, I soloed up the main climb. Twenty minutes faster than my time last year, and 15 minutes or so faster than I did solo a few weeks back, admittedly the weather was worse then, but still 3-4kmh average faster than I would be solo.

I was rushed for the start as our car threw up a tyre low pressure light when we were leaving, didnt put any sun cream on, and I have super red tan lines now :o

My knees hurt :(

Think I'll wait until Tuesday before going out again. Getting a bit worried I'm going to break something.

Yeah, take it easy mate. No point doing yourself a mischief. I ended up with heatstroke after that ride yesterday. I must have pushed it a bit too much on those hills and especially after only taking one water bottle out with me. I feel ok now, still got a headache though.

can't believe it.. got my deadlift record yesterday at gym, did squats and then went on to take a KOM on my way home.. really chuffed! :) my little brother was 1s behind me.. he's getting fast.

Hmm, so I showed the boss Rapha's website today to clarify why I spent £300 there last week.

"Oh, that stuff is actually really nice, unlike your other stuff. You can buy more from there".

...

This on top of looking at a potential new property this afternoon with enough room in the garden to (in her words) "...put in a bike workshop and computer room.". Looks like I married the right woman after all :D.

First road race (well, APR) of the year today and got my first few points on my licence for this season :D
The course is 5 short laps which are mainly flat with 1 hill. So it's pretty much a gentle roll around for 4 miles then 1 mile of flat out effort up the hill.
Tried to make a break on the last time up the climb, but a few guys stayed on my wheel and we had a little break of 7. The 2 of my clubmates who made the break with me happened to be 2 of our best sprinters, so i lead out the sprint for them. I'm useless at sprinting and probably would have been 7th anyway if i tried to go for it, so i was happy to lead it out. We got 1st, 4th and me in 7th.

She's a keeper! :p

Just seen CRC have some race packs on offer, I need some gels, although remember someone posting up some £5 ones, just wondering if anyone has the link for me to compare contents.

Looking at getting an single speed for commuting so I can keep the ribble stealth for the weekend.

Narrowed it down to either an On One Pompino (£500) or a Kona Paddy Wagon (£599).
Does anyone have any views as to which would be a better buy :)

Not had time to do anything with bikes today but I did manage to turn my bike cave from this:

You can make your own energy drinks which cheapens things a bit.

I just made a basic Maltodextrin/Fructose mix.

Nice, my friends just cycled from London to Paris via Amiens over 3 days so doing it in one day is very impressive. Ill be sure to sponsor closer to the time so make sure keep reminding everyone.

Thanks Diablo - will look into that! ATM I am spending more on gel packs than I am on bloody food for meals!! lol

Cheers King - that would be awesome and really appreciated. Even though I've already raised the £1200 i committed to it's for a very good cause (i was in hospital with people who are now friends who scpe would help and their attitude is inspiring - learning to play wheelchair tennis for example!!) and it's also to put myself to the test so it's awesome how supportive people have been for me with my minor issues!!

Typical I didn't have the helmet camera on this morning when I got ****ing beeped at by a bus driver while I was on a stretch of dual lane carriageway. A whole other lane free as it was about 8am on Sunday morning and that ****womble beeped at me for NOTHING.

Started ranting so much I forgot to take note of the reg/bus no.
Grrrr WHY!!

I tend not to use a lot of gels.
I use them for racing because they are quick to eat and i usually take an 'emergency gel' or two on longer rides but dont often eat them.
They are fast to digest so they give you a quick boost when you need it but i prefer real food for longer rides. Cereal bars, fig rolls, malt loaf and bananas are all good. Pretty much anything with some sugar and starchy stuff in it will do.
