Doh! Instead of turning off in Hope to go to Edale just carry straight on through Castleton. You come out in virtually the same place.

Next time! Most climbing I've done in a weekend anyway by a long way!

Still up for a ride this weekend if the weather is decent oli?

Hopefully, but having a few work issues, need to work Sunday evening and if things don't go to plan i may need to do more than that too :(

Is Winnats Pass so bad that you missed it out, twice?

Didn't realise it was there :( first time visiting the peaks

The Mam Tor climb is more or as less as tough and usually more enjoyable to ride at the weekend because traffic can get a bit backed up going up Winnats and there are too many Sunday drivers!

Still, gives you something for next time. :D

Right, I just got my Edge 500 + HR + cadence. I've yet to attach the cadence sensor though. I've got Shimano cranks, and these have a sort of well running the length of them on the inside, so not a flat surface for fitting the magnetic sensor. I could fix it into the well with the sticky pad that came with it, but I doubt that it would hold. The cable tie definitely won't hold it.

Just interested in how you guys fix this little magnet to similar cranks?

Just realised that's the one we went down - that was scary enough in itself with the traffic! Thanks v much for help with the routes, think it provided enough of a challenge :)

Back to the flats of Suffolk tomorrow which will be a nice change..

I aimed to zip tie mine as close to the crank bolt as possible so it had a bit of purchase on the flat rear surface of the bolt. The best solution though is getting a minature neodymium magnet off eBay (only a couple of quid at most) and attaching that to your crank bolt. No adhesive or zip ties necessary.

And no problem Oli, if you're up again and need someone to ride with I'm around most weekends.

Just want some confirmation that this is the right Triban 3 and not the Triban 3A?
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-3-red-road-bike-id_8274036.html

Also, the smallest size (45cm) is available but I cannot for the life of me find any geometry for the Triban. Looks like it's 70% we're going with the Triban - missus is umm and ahhing as it's £100 over budget but it's new and more likely to make her like road cycling than a heavier Apollo.

Risk it and get the 45cm, and then increase the stem and seat post if required? She's 5' 3", legs probably 26" (not measured, it's an educated guess)

That page makes my eyes twitch. The blurb looks like it was written in engrish and that apostrophe on 'Sport's products' makes me want to stomp on kittens.

I know what you mean - if it weren't for the high positive feedback by sensible writers and the forum, I'd have been a little worried about a sales page written in that manner.

Edit: The nearest Decat is about an hours away - that said, we may enquire if the Sheffield store has one available, bob down and see before we buy. She'd like to uhh and ahh over it before I hand over my card anyway.

Still keeping an eye on second hands though.

Pretty sure most of the stuff on there has just been directly translated from French badly by someone that couldn't be arsed on a Friday afternoon. Still, if it means cheap stuff then I'm all for them not employing content editors. :D

Thanks, I've ordered some neodynium magnets from fleabay so hopefully they'll do the trick.
I guess the temporary solution as you suggest is to place it as close to the pedal bolt as possible. Cable ties are horrible things though!! :p

Yeah probably. I might not be on the Canyon though depending on the weather. I've emailed them asking for a wider handlebar after all. I'd rather just bite the bullet and get it over with. My stem should turn up today though hopefully.

Yeah they are horrible things! You can also use a small dab of epoxy/glue to attach one of those magnets to a spoke as a speed magnet replacement, bit more discrete than the Garmin alternative.
