Hmmm, other than probably needing two repair kits, and different feel (different rolling resistances) no real dramas in running a clincher/tub or vice versa?

You dont really get a 'repair kit' for tubs. You can use sealant for small holes, but anything too big to be repaired with sealant and you're stuck.
There's places you can send the tub to who will cut the stitches open, patch the tube and stitch it back together for you. It's a little more difficult to replace a tyre as well. You need to glue it on and leave it for 24 hours to cure.

yea I did look around and was aware they discount the bike by £100 at least once a year but it was about the best drivetrain I could get for the money at the time and I'm happy enough with the bike.

just a big downer. I could have got a nice garmin with the 150 discount + what I spent on a cycle computer anyway :(

As you've mentioned, you only got it earlier this month, it's not been 28 days yet! Any way you can wangle your way for a refund (maybe not that far an extend). I find complaining reasonably helps - call/written complains, explaining the situation and they may give you the rest as in store vouchers.

You can ride better on a flat tub though, right?

Very slightly better because the tyre is glued on and stays in place unlike a punctured clincher. Still wouldnt want to be riding it far, you might damage the rim and it's uncomfortable on hands/arms.

I'll try and find out when they went on offer.

they can try and exclude online only but i did reserve and collect so in reality it's an online order no?

Did you reserve (and pay) before you collect or did you reserve and then pay during collection? That might be the key to DSA.

And the price promise sound slike it for competing shops rather than their own, still no harm asking. People who moaned to Apple got their iPads e.t.c. reduced and stuff, and that's buying from brick and motar. Don't ask, don't get, easiest is to go straight to Manager / customer services as Joe Block at the till might pull some bull so as not to faff around with it.

Just bought this : Smart Lunar R2

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/smart-lunar-r2-rear-cycle-light-8-99-jejamescycles-1609006

Got caught out last night when my ride lasted a little longer than planned. I've got the cheap ebay cree on my commuter bike and a cheap rear light but I'm just looking for something slimline for my 'best' bike.

So are there any decent slim/small front lights for under £20? Don't want anything bulky ruining the look of my bike :o

What are the opinions on mudguards?

Didn't see anything in "The Rules" but don't like getting too wet :(

Bike is 2004 Cannondale R1000 if that makes a difference to what would fit.

The main things to worry about are clearances in the forks/rear stays and whether or not you have mudguard mounts.

The best bet if you have mounts are SKS Chromoplastics.
The best bet without mounts are Crud Road Racer Mk 2s.

Lovely but any ones to avoid like the plague or equally chase down the last pair in the shop?

typically posted at the same time. Thanks.

i need to fix the seatpost as its not being gripped properly so it twists and it needs a jubilee clip to keep it up :(

I personally went with this:

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/topeak/defender-mudguard-set-rc1-rc11-ec033856

Because it's damn easy to put on and remove when I don't need it. It looks 'nicer' on my black coloured bike. At the end of the day, it's mud guard, don't weight a lot but will be a godsent come wetter weather.

I've only had mine on my bike for about a weeks worth when weather forecast rain.

i've had this on my bike for a month or so now.. maybe more :) its OK but not a full winter guard.. if you go faster than 20ish/mph some will end up on you.. front i don't have it but it looks like a joke tbh :D
