Still crippled, could hardly put my shoes on this morning.

I should probably have taken the day off but thought moving around in pain would be better than lying in one spot and seizing up...

No racing tomorrow, fingers crossed ill be better Sunday or Monday as I need to get some decent hours in.

Don't push too hard if you hurt it again it will take longer to get back into shape.

Just a headsup if you're any way inclined like I am.

Either do or don't (depending on the size of your credit card bill!) visit the Rapha website on Monday, as they are having a stock clearance sale :).

I knew I shouldn't have tried that Rapha jacket on yesterday...

I'm hoping that they don't have anything in my size left for the stock clearance. I can't justify buying any more cycling gear, but the idiotic consumer part of my brain will somehow see reasonably priced Rapha gear as a bargain, and it's hard to fight that notion.

A question for those of you who commute into London; is cycling in the City as bad as people make it out to be? It looks as though I've secured a new job up in London, the office is near St Paul's. I'd really like to continue commuting by bike, but I've seen a lot of complaints about the standard of driving and cycling up there. I'd be cycling in from Croydon, so I'd probably go up via Crystal Palace, Dulwich, Camberwell and Southwark, crossing the river at Blackfriars.

I ordered the lights too.:(

I swear I need to stop buying cycling stuff! I think I have more cycling specific clothing than I do regular clothing now.

Just taken the plunge on a set of Elite Arion Rollers! Fingers crossed I can adapt to them and work them into a bit of a training program over winter. Spin bikes at the gym providing resistance training and the rollers early morning high cadence stuff is the rough plan.

These will keep me going for a few miles!!

They taste horrible lol. Begrudgingly working my way through my pile of SiS.

BTW I like that yours actually came in boxes where as mine were all loose.

Cycling in London is fine because the speed differential is lower and frequently in your favour. There are also so many cyclist around that drivers are generally more aware.

I have more issues with poor driving once I get into Surrey beyond Kingston that I do in London. Many more.

That's what I figured, but thanks [DOD]Asprilla for your words of wisdom. I'll do some trial runs up there at the weekend to gauge the various routes, and hopefully figure out a way to avoid some of the nastier roads. I'm quite looking forward to it in a way, as it'll mean my commuting distance will go from about 40 miles a week to slightly over 100. That's one way to make sure I get out on the bike :)

I find pedestrians are more of an issue than drivers in Central London. Bloody lemming mentality!

EDIT: Will you be going over the Elephant & Castle roundabout? That one is a bit annoying as drivers have bad lane discipline and it's quite a fast roundabout.

well after the comedy phone call to my local cycle shop the other day and having a mooch about im thinking of just ordering a bike from ribble cycles come the new year and get something a bit better than the tat they would try and off load on me.

just wondering if anyone's had any bikes from ribble and got any suggestions ?

would be using the bike for general riding and commuting and a 600 mile ride to germany planned for next september.

Did I post on here when I ran over a mother and child that stepped in front of me?:D

The poor kid vomited from the force!

The horrible thing is you could kill someone if you hit them at speed.

Some pedestrians just don't look... I had some guy cross the road in front of me a few weeks back, but instead of walking straight across he walked at this really stupid angle, so he practically walking straight along my lane for a good distance. I'd seen him start crossing from a good distance back, probably about 100 yards, and if he'd gone straight over, he'd have been well clear by the time I got to him. As it was, he was still ambling along in the road when I got to him so I had to go around him and shout at him as I went past. Idiot.
