nothing better than loading up someone else's route and just following it without having to worry about where you are going or stopping to check a map on your phone.
http://ridewithgps.com is great for drawing your own map to import into a garmin as well

You just need to watch you are clicking - I've stiched myself up with routes I've planned online in the past. I've planned to go down what looks to be a country lane (so has the routing data when following roads) and it turns out to be a farm track or footpath when you get there

Last ride of the year (probably), made it a big one today, weather was ok, dry but chilly.

So that's my first year on the road done, 5806 miles total, , 273,000ft of climbing. Can't wait for next year, would like to hit 7500 as a minimum, which I should easily achieve including my commuting. Here's to 2014.

Who do people recommend going with if going on cycling holidays on your own?

I prefer to be in a group or have set goals etc to work too. If I have to work I expect to work for it.

Cycling Mallorca recommended Andy Cook cycling.

Anyone else? Because of my injuries getting out cycling when it's wet and cold plays havoc with them and is simply not worth the pain and recovery time.

Anybody?

^Great ride with Gav/OMS today, much appreciated for laying on some coffee pre ride, and much gratitude to his lovely wife who had food cooked for us when we got back. He even managed to lay on pretty perfect weather for me, especially given the nightmare wind and rain yesterday!

Hard work over Mam Torr, really not used to hills that steep, but OMS was awfully kind and gave me a wheel to follow whilst trying not to bring the cake up from the cafe stop ~15 minutes earlier! Also took the front on the long slow, gradual climb out of the valley after it, really helped me recover.

Tired legs, beer cooling and bath running. Great day :).

Edit: er this was also the first ever ride that i've gotten a cadence reading! Average of 82, pretty damned happy with that!

Nice ride guys, well done :-)

New wheels arrived...Planet X have 15% off today so I rang them and they agreed to refund me so got them for £237

those chinese wheels... :o

Almost brought my own cake up trying to catch back up to you on that hill, was mighty relieved when you pulled over so I could catch up! :D

Try http://www.ledomestiquetours.co.uk

I've never been on one of their tours but I've met them at a couple of the Bike Radar Commuter Xmas gatherings. A number of other commuters / club mates who do Le Marmotte on a regular basis have used them and highly recommend them.

Rob has done the RAAM as part of a four man team so he knows his onions.
