Thanks all. I will go with the big-big method. Park Tool seem to agree with this method and the +2 links.

Went out to RP on the single-speed this morning since the Cinelli is chainless and the Rose is on turbo duties. Set a 1-lap PB going ACW.:D

I suppose so. I haven't done a lap nearly that fast since the park was closed to motor vehicles on the day of the Ride100!

Just got an email on LinkedIn, Rapha are looking to hire somebody in London for pretty much my job description.

I'd start with just replacing the chain. Fit it and take the bike out for a ride and see if it still jumps. Chances are it won't, but if it does, THEN shell out for a new cassette. Doesn't that make more economic sense than shelling out more when you might not need to? Everything else sounds like you just need to look after it a bit more. Get a small bottle of oil and just keep everything lubed up.

I've done the +2 links trick that [DOD]Asprilla mentioned but I've found it sometimes leaves the chain a bit tight depending on the derailleur and the gear combo. Just something to be aware of - but keep the links you take off in case you need to add a couple back in :)

Cheers for the advice , so do I just buy an 8 speed chain from somewhere and fit ? Obviously my bike has an 8 speed cassette on the back.

that is mega value !
never heard of them though but great spec for the money! puts mine to shame

Owned by Tandem who own Claud Butler and Dawes, amongst others.

The original owners WF Holdsworth have just announced they will be closing their little shop on Lower Richmond Road. Holdsworth were a major manufacturer of steel frames in the 50s and 60s with their orange and blue livery; lovely bikes.

In other news: evil genius......

hmmmm...my phone has ANT+ receiver. Wonder if i could make a little app to display the various people around me and how much each of them is suffering.

-How do i work out which person each set of sensors belong to?
-How would i even work out which sensors are on the same bike (assuming more than 1 power meter and more than 1 hr monitor detected).

Each sensor has a unique id. It can store the data and 'learn' where each person's max hr and power values are. Getting better at predicting the level of suffering of each person the more it learns.

Recommend me some Waist Shorts

going to be using them Training indoors, and if they are good I will use them for outdoor rides and indoor track

thought about getting my dhb bib shorts ones again but waist version, but they don't do the TOUR pad version

so whilst looking around I came across another company called "Lusso"

tempted by the Lusso Pro Core or the Lusso Pro Gel

or maybe another one I should consider?

Stay well away from anything that isnt bibshorts.

I have bib shorts

I also have some Endura undershorts type things, I use these for training at present, they are fine, but pad is a little thin for me, so I need something better
I actually find no problems around the waist

Yes. You'll need a chain breaker tool; basically lay your old chain out straight on the floor on some newspaper and lay the new one next to it. The new one will be longer. Use the tool to take as many links off as you need to and then hook it up on the bike. You'll see that the old chain will have stretched a bit because link-for-link the old one will appear longer - just double check there are the same number of links :)

Holdsworth used to make steel road bikes back in the day. PlanetX have obviously decided to resurrect the name as a bit of marketing. Nice looking bike.

I have some Pearl Izumi ones and some from Gore. I like both but I prefer the PI ones. Both have a level waist on them which I think is important for non-bib shorts. I tried some in the Specialized shop that felt like a really horrible fit and were way too high at the back, sort of scalloped up your back. Made it feel (and look) like you were wearing a nappy when you stood up.

Forecast looks OK for the weekend at the moment so should be heading out if you're around - no worries if not!

Sufferfest - Angels last night, squats this evening for the first time in weeks. Legs broken.

Did Angels for the first time tonight too - now I know what the fuss is about and there was me thinking a 20min test was hard (perhaps I should push that more?!)

I'm sure I've talked about this before but the benefit of training mornings vs evenings.

Say I make 300w peak power.

Normal training in an afternoon ill ride at 85% of this so 255w.

In a morning ill only be able to manage say 70% so 210w.

Is my body getting the same benefit from the same riding? Ill work as hard each time but in the morning the power just isn't there!

I also need to look at core strengthening as after an hour my lower back starts to go. Fine in a bunch when your not working all the time but solo racing it comes on.
