Yeah, my order for shoes and cleats with them is still processing too, ordered on Monday - I'm itching to get out properly on my new (to me, and my first!) road bike.

Monday!? Hmm might cancel the order and just spend the extra getting it from LBS. Will call them tomorrow and see what's up/cancel it.

Just looking for their number and they say to call between "07:30 to 17:20 (CRC Time)". CRC time? Really??

Yeah, I was thinking of spending 20 quid on the spedo. The bike is going to be delivered tomorrow, can't wait to test it out :)

Edit

How accurate will the speedo (20 pounds budget) be? It would be interesting to see how many miles I've done and what sort of speed I'm traveling at. I'll have a look at wiggle for wireless at around 20'ish..

For wireless you may have to go closer to £30, but it's probably worth it. Accuracy will be fine. With a wired on it's rock solid, and a wireless one will be fine provided you set it up right, but that's hardly rocket science.

If you've got a decathlon near you I've used their cheap computer and it did the job well, £20 atm and wireless.

Hmm, I think my bottom bracket on my Carrera TDF might be getting a bit tired. It's squeaky as hell. It doesn't happen when I'm freewheeling, so I'm pretty sure it's the bb. I've got the icetoolz essence kit, which includes a crank puller and a shimano bb tool, so I think I'm all set tools wise. Is it as simple as getting a cheap square taper bb (Halfords have one for £6) and then taking it apart and putting it back together? I've got a zinn book, so I guess that'll point me in the right direction, but is this broadly speaking something I can do at home?

Thanks for the info :)
But the nearest decathlon is over 40 miles away, but I found this at wiggle http://www.evanscycles.com/products/vdo/a4-wireless-cycle-computer-ec035615

I'm gone have a look at amazon and ebay anyway, I might find a good offer of a 35-40 quid spedo for e.g. 16 quid

Been at physio for second appointment. Torn cartilage in lower knee. Agony. :( Hating not being able to ride either on or off road and looking at 6-10 weeks off with the damn thing. Anyone else torn a cartilage? How long did it take to heal for you and did you find anything helped in a big way?

Torn mine when playing 5-a-side, wasnt as bad as first thought, I ended up taking 3 weeks off then done a couple of light sessions on the bike.

Resting is all you can do and some easy stretches when you can walk properly again.

Well my cheapo Halford's hybrid bike gave up the goose last week. I've spent more money repairing the damn thing, than it's original cost. So I decided it was time to invest in a proper road bike.

I had a budget of around £1500, so I decided to go for the "Planet X Pro Carbon Shimano Ultegra". As it will leave me £500 to buy accessories etc.

Do you think I've made the right choice for my very first road bike? And also wondered if anyone had any tips for a newbie to bike racing? I assume, the first few rides I should expect to fall off quite a bit!?

As for accessories; I already have lights, Garmin, helmet, clothing (although need new cycling shorts).
I'm assuming I will need special cycling shoes, but can anyone recommend anything else that I may require?

I'm hoping for a 4 week max respite period. Got lots on at work at the moment so don't really want to be off just now. Hopefully an MRI should go someway to giving us a picture of what's going on inside the knee. Ironically it's my other knee which is usually the dodgy one as it was smashed to bits a long time ago in an RTC. Only consolation I've got just now is the weather is awful but when it's bright and dry I'm itching to go and do some gentle miles.
