Edited for you :p Well ridden! Beautiful day for it!?

Unrelated, anyone use a site/brand of recovery whey protein powder which'll work out cheaper than 70p a serving? (Currently Powerbar and High5 work out like this from Wiggle)

I use myprotein, I go for whey isolate (mainly as it's easier to mix), no idea serving price though. I also purchase in bulk and use QuidCo.

I've gone up that before and it's definitely better coming down it :p

The climb up through Saintbury looks quite tough too! Although I'd be tempted to climb the descent you did past Chipping Camden, as it looks fun?! :)

Edit: have a great weekend all!

I like Protein Works whey. Unflavoured and I mix it with Nesquik chocolate powder. Soooooo tasty. Only use it as a protein top-up with breakfast. On restricted calories again to drop the Fat weight.

So I've been clearing my parents' attic as they're moving house. There's a whole load of my old Hornby train set from when I was a kid. There's also an old ZX spectrum and an old n64. eBay here we come - this will all be raising funds with which to buy a power meter. Boom.

Identified what PM I've seen in the pro peloton with what looked very much like DA cranks.... DA Chainset with SRM power meter. Do want  but lawd that price  Reality is £800-£1000 would be better spent on a different crank based system and the change from £2.5k spent on cycling holidays :D

I'm looking at picking up a 4iiii Precision... I had been looking at the Favero Bepro, but the batteries would be a faff to recharge as my bike lives in a shed with no electricity... Silly, maybe, but that's the situation I'm in. Dcrainmaker reckons the Precision is good, and it's good enough for Etixx Quickstep to use. They should be releasing the double sided upgrade later this year as well, which could be handy in due course.

I'll resist going on like (even more of) a broken record regarding PM choice :p

It'll be interesting to hear how the 4iiii works for you. How much are you looking at once you factor in the new crank and/or shipping?

Probikekit charge £349 for the Precision pre-fitted to a 105 crank. It's more for fancier cranks.

I've looked at P2M, but I'd pay double that for a new one. I could get lucky looking second hand but there's no guarantee. There's loads of powertap wheels for about that money on eBay, but the service costs and potential repair costs put me off big time. Stages are expensive and of questionable reliability, though the newer versions seem OK. Garmin and powertap pedals are silly money. Powertap's chainring solution is more reasonable, but the chainring choice is a limiting factor, particularly when looking second hand, plus I'd need to source some 5 arm cranks.

It looks like bepro or precision, really! If I had more cash it might be a different story. Maybe next time! Hell, power may not even work for me, so maybe best to go in at the shallow end.

I think you could get a decent P2M for not much more but yeah, it wouldn't be new and warranty is an understandable concern.

I definitely don't think Stages is the way to go. Far too many horror stories.

Powertap C1 was definitely on my list but (same as P2M I think?) you have the 5 chainring bolt requirement..and as it's newer there are far fewer cheap second-hand options available online.

£350 for the 4iiii doesn't sound too bad, given it will be new with warranty.

Good luck to everyone on here taking part in the Tour of Cambridgeshire TT tomorrow! Saw at least a couple of you are going to be there. Looking forward to the Gran Fondo myself, looks like the weather is set to be perfect

Started my ride tonight and shifted a couple of times.. didn't feel anything. Gear cable slack... some how it lost tension.

Inspected it and the cable end is stuck at the top of the cam in the shifter... great. Can't seem to get it out of there at all. I still have cable on the other side but pushing it through is just bending the cable.

I've just pretty much drawn a blank finding climbs around Inverness over 20%. I don't remember it being *that* flat when I was last there?! :p

Steepest I can find:
https://www.strava.com/segments/2064157 - Dochgarroch
https://www.strava.com/segments/1729672 - Abriachan
https://www.strava.com/segments/5632799 - Dochnaclear?
https://www.strava.com/segments/3531596 - Screwy data, but Muirfield Road (Just off Culduthel) looks steep?

Dochgarroch = Blackfold. I'm 2nd on that and didn't even know. I was sick in my mouth last time on that one, smashed up it too soon after porridge but it's a steep climb that one. I'll KOM that this summer.

Abriachan is a steep one also, same area as above. As above regards KOM :p

Dochnaclear, never heard of it or ridden it but it is right out near where I will be moving house to. The KOM bloke on that rides for Team Wiggins, so that'll be a nice one to take!

Last one is 100% screwy data I don't even think it is a hill of any sort haha.

This is another one on the same hills as Blackfold/Abriachan, data looks tame as this is a tough and steep one - https://www.strava.com/segments/722796 - the KOM is a sexy bloke.

My imperial prep has gone fantastically well. I've done a grand total of no rides since 26th May, I've got a cold and despite doing no riding I've managed to sod up my knee. I'm sure it'll be fine... TBH the mileage has got in my head a little bit. To the point where I'm looking at parking options to avoid the 2 mile uphill ride to the start point :o

Started to check the bike over yesterday and noticed that one of my bottle cages was shattered (no idea how I didn't lose my bottle last ride!). Oh well, I'll have to ride with my spare one... oh, no. The other one has a crack across the mounting points too. A quick trip to Halfords and I'm all set with two shiny new Elite cages :)

Oh and work sponsored some jerseys for the four of us and they are the brightest orange I have ever seen... ever. I think I'll do double stints at the front to save my retinas :D

Up early this morning for 32 miles around the Wirral. No wonder Boardmam never won any grand tours, there's no hills here! Still, a good ride and nice to be out early while it was quiet.
