Might have to do a late one at work so unsure if I can commit! Do you meet them at the start on the map or further along closer to Long Eaton?

If you mean as a base camp for your cycling holiday - go to Port de Pollenca. You'll have a huge climb every morning to get out of Soller if you stay there. At least you have the option of a flat run from Pollenca.

If you mean just to visit on a ride - definitely go to Port de Soller.

Hard to say - some brands are using special resins for brake surfaces that are better than basalt. THese supposedly handle heat dissipation better and are less prone to de lamination. Its a bit of a minefield with the Chinese suppliers as to what they use but I haven't read many horror stories.

Personally I didn't like sacrificing braking performance vs alloy wheels. BRaking on the Farsports ones I had was ok but just ok and a bit squeally. I didn't test in the wet. If I go deeper rims again I reckon I'll go HED Jet or something similar
 
Plumped for the Basalt in the end.

1470g 50mm Carbon Clinchers - £236 + 45 postage! Will see how I get on with them! Hopefully get them at beginning of next month.
 
One of the more popular entry level bikes, the Specialized Allez. Why on earth is finding a headset bearing for this thing such a dark art??!?!

I don't suppose anyone has had any experience? :confused:

What is everyone paying for bike insurance?
I've had a quote of £152, including public liability with a bike value of £2.5k
Does that sound about right?

Do you know if the hubs that these come with (Nova tech?) are any good? Id be tempted to go for a Chinese rims, get some branded hubs and ask a LBS to build them for me.
