That was ******* horrendous out there today.

I was well and truly pumped. As soon as they stuck me in that group with nothing but cat3/4 guys i knew i was doomed.

Was straight into the red in the first 3 miles, and then into that headwind as soon as i got gapped that was me. No way of getting back on. The scratch group went sailing past me about 5 mins later.

Brian, Nick and Colin all got dropped from my bunch before Muirkirk, so even for the guys that are racing the pace was brutal.

I just went to Muirkirk myself, nearly got blown off the road coming into the town, so just turned there and headed back.

Painful stuff.

That strava has my ride over in it as well, cos i don't known how to reset it properly between rides. :o

On the edge 500 you hold the bottom right button and it comes up reset in 3,2,1 then resets your ride.

anyone seen the sram gxp "bolt cap/self ext cap" thingy for sale anywhere? I lost mine.. :/ can't find much online duh!

I was able to borrow one from a mate when I needed it. Still haven't replaced it so if you find the right one let me know.

so I'm assuming a normal crank extractor doesn't work then? hmm.. we'll see when the above one comes through if it fits! not sure how I lost it tbh :o

Guys, some advice please, my TT bike is currently quite set up for flatter time trials, unfortunately my local courses are rarely that. I'm wanting to change my bike to a 10 speed set up as I have a couple of cassettes (12-25 and 11-28 with a 54-42 front). My current cassette is a 13 23 so I'm either grinding or spinning!

So as my shifter can run non indexed, I'm thinking I only need a chain so a cheap change, however I'm unsure if my rear derrailuer will be suitable in its current guise as it has a very short reach. Soooo will this derailleur work or do I need a longer cage?

Tl : Dr will this cage work with a 12 25 or 11 28?

Cheers. Yeah, i thought you had to just press it and get the countdown. But it turns out you have to press and hold until the countdown finishes to make it actually reset. If you let go of the button at any point during the countdown it doesn't reset.

Every day's a school day.

Looks like a short cage derailleur which i am fairly sure can run up to a 28. I may be wrong.

I think the spec for that mech is a 27t max but I'm pretty sure I've had one running on a 28. 32t it just rubs like mad though.

Right on the limit of the capacity with it being short caged. 12t difference at the front + 17t at the back making it 29t.

Just batter the B screw in and you should be fine. Failing that get a longer one as it doesn't need to be a perfect shift with it being friction.

Thanks jonny knew you'd have the answer, will get a chain ordered and fitted on. May upgrade the shifters at some point as my old ultegra ones definitely showing their age.

I'd go for new chainrings first. I know it's cool to have a massive dinner plate on a TT bike but do you actually use it?
Even with a 12tooth cassette, a standard double will be good for 30+mph.

I actually find i do. That and they're carbon items so much much cheaper to change a chain, as I say I can start spinning much higher than I want in top gear on sections of a number of courses round here.

Had my first few turbo sessions on the Kickr over the weekend. All I can say is...wow. The resistance is so smooth on it. It's amazing to just set a resistance and power along, without worrying about your speed to regulate the power (when using TrainerRoad Virtual Power).

CIRC report published, good summary on road.cc

http://road.cc/content/news/145048-doping-still-widespread-professional-cycling-says-circ-report

Hardly surprising former presidents come out in a bad light, and as expected doping is still going on, just not in such huge numbers, just need investment in testing which seems to be coming. I have heard that a central decision panel is going to be set up so that any bans will be subject to strict guidelines and not determined by the riders national authority.

so anyone got anything out of the PX orders? with the voucher code that was posted? mine is still without movement.. :/

on that note, took my brothers main/only bike - SS 16/49 gearing.. to gym yesterday, just to see how I like it

it's a no, it's fast once you get going and you will want to keep going but commuting on something like that would be a knee killer! with the amount of start-stops I do..

cool! post progress pics as you go :) not a fan of the blue! installed my headset yesterday, just waiting for other parts.. might take friday off and order wheels for delivery next day.

My second grimmest ride of the year although had some company for it at least. Was more fun than it should have been really!

Weather was shocking, me and the g/f set off to the start for this, I punctured front, replaced tube, set off, punctured rear, replaced tube, glass still in, punctured 2nd tube which I got from a rider passing by, took g/f bike home to get car to pick her and the bikes up.

Horrible.

Dried off at home, ate lunch and showed g/f how to replace tubes and we went out and did the short route when the sun came out around 2pm.

Lovely ride, be nice when its sunny/warm/dry :P was impressed with average speed of the g/f too, she's getting faster! Gutted we didn't get to do it with everyone else.
