pro fit race fat more like :D

Hahaha, really made me chuckle - my two friends I ride with are nearly always wearing team kit (Sky/British Cycling) and neither are 'built like a cyclist'!

oh and my castelli top arrived, and....... it's too small, who said it would be ok ? lol

That was me, sorry! :o

Did you size the same as your shorts and do you normally?

Lol burned the skin off my knuckles while filtering! Was so close I dragged them over the side of the bus! #londonlife

Ouch! Quite surprised you don't wear any already mate, I do and they've saved me losing some skin a couple of times. Thankfully I've never suffered from hot or sweaty hands so even wearing them in this weather doesn't bother me.

Saw the bundy pop up on my Strava feed, was never really sure what it was before... It's just a chaingang or more a peloton? Well done regardless! Beast of a ride & effort!

I need to do more rather than a Tuesday bundy then wait a week, cycle to work on Tuesday and do a bundy again. ****ing hurts doing it like this.

I've found I need to do two 25/30+ mile rides a week for them to hurt less!

I know you guys do this anyway and I'm just giving an egg sucking lesson but...

If you are out enjoying these gorgeous summer evenings please stick a rear light on, the brighter the better. Low sun, windscreens covered in bugs and cyclists out there in all black with no lights they were very well camouflaged even with my 20/20 vision. I can see how a SMIDSY could occur quite easily this time of year.

I run my rear light every ride, even commuting. I always consider if riding in bright sunshine and suddenly being in shade - I know how difficult it is to see in changing light conditions! Even 5-6 hours a week (average) my rear light (Cateye Mini RC) only needs charging every 3 weeks.

Indeed. Taking it easy today to let my legs recover a little. I'll probably cycle less than 10 miles today

My legs struggled home yesterday and again this morning, not sure they're recovering from Saturdays ride well at all... Distance was fine, just the hills I think?! Going for an after work ride tomorrow so will see what happens. Had hoped to get out for a club ride saturday! :/

Does everyone use a rear light in the summer? I relegate all my lights in the summer, but then again I don't cycle in the dark this time of year. Latest I'm out is usually 8pm.
No offence, but if you can't see because your windscreen is covered in bugs, shouldn't you clean it? And if the sun impedes your vision, slow down to a safe speed.

on the hottest days, with the highest pollen counts, I become ever so slightly asthmatic

hurrah.

My hayfever is really bad at the moment too. Thankfully I don't get asthma-like symptoms but I'm feeling incredibly lethargic and my head feels like it's stuffed with cotton wool :/

Agreed. Also, a rear light in the daytime is not going to make you any more visible to a driver that is semi-blinded by the sun.

Yeah, you'll notice it more on the hills. Just take a day or two easy or a day off. You'll be fine for a Sat ride :)

Leave a rear on my bikes most of the year, rear light is always in use on TT's!

Generally though if a driver is driving into the sun a rear light isn't going to help too much!

Had my first spd incident for about 3 years today, when I hadn't done my velcro up tight enough and couldn't unclip! Cue laying on my side and laughing at myself for a good 30 seconds!

I do but after ocuk's ride my hands looked funny with bad tan lines! so I ditched them for a while to even them out ;)

I just wear my hi-viz pink Rapha jersey. It's difficult not to see me.:p

it is indeed VERY bright, must be hard to keep clean? I've seen a few people riding around in them :o I'd say they are brighter than the actual high-viz/yellow/green? tops that everyone wears.

Well, I thought it was a helpful heads up with regards to the rear light thing but obviously not...

My car was clean when I left home, driving country lanes you can go from crystal clear to bug splattered in a few miles. I'll see if I can find the example that caused me to put the post up on my dashcam footage but a rear light would have made them massively more visible.

If it's getting dark then yes, a light should be used. If it's daylight hours then 99% of rear lights are going to make bugger-all difference.

Thinking about a layback seat post for my TT bike to improve my position.

I have integrated bars/stem so cannot make that longer without extra expense.

Are there good or bad ones? As with everything in cycling the prices vary so much. I'll probably just buy a cheap one but want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Jan you do realise these are the same car drivers who drive eating breakfast out of bowls and drive with their windscreens frozen solid don't you? :p

My consideration is when riding in shade, not at night and not even with me wearing dark clothing (I generally don't). If me using a rear light makes one more driver on the road notice me then I consider it a win! :p

I will occasionally use my front light when filtering in bad/stationary traffic in the hope the flash make me more visible in drivers side mirrors while I'm overtaking.

Surprised there's not more high viz orange/pink as it really does stand out over the yellow.
