Just take your own pedals.
Only takes 2 mins to swap them over - it's even easier on a fixed gear bike because it doesnt freewheel away from you when you try to undo them.

Converse seem like terrible shoes to cycle in, you want something with at least a partially solid base.
Nope, they're great. I've been commuting in them for years.

Not saying they're ideal, but I haven't found anything better for constantly slotting in and out of toeclips.

https://www.strava.com/activities/337425277/analysis managed to spin out my SS yesterday! 33.6mph lol, I was going mental!

You need a cadence sensor on it for the Benny Hill lols :p

For those struggling with the heat - get a paddling pool ;) It's the only way to cool down after your commute!

Loads cooler here today! 14/15 degrees on my commute in but hasn't warmed past 22 degrees and now dropped back down to 19 after some drizzle. 10 or more degrees colder than yesterday! Gotta love the British summer...!

nah I had vision team 30's on my main bike :) khamsin front is still sitting on single speed, rear is left outside.. covered with the rest of triban 3... :o

Ahhh fair enough, was sure someone 'upgraded' to Sciroccos from Khamsims soon after I got mine?

Clogs? :D

Following up on the spesh post I made yday.

Cyclingtips have done their own review of the aero gains spesh kit..

http://cyclingtips.com.au/2015/06/c...5-minutes-over-40kms/comment-page-1/#comments

Skinsuit and helmet biggest savings.

for most people I think a more aero riding position is probably the most cost effective solution. Yoga classes and shedding that belly are the ways forward (the latter has the advantage of weight reduction too, win-win).

Part of me gets luddite about all the aero stuff, time was not so long ago that the machine wasn't a big differentiator, now you can buy 5 mins over 25 miles off the shelf. A rich rider can (within reason) now buy themselves faster than a stronger rider who's skint.

another part of me thinks it's all really cool tho

Like you say though, you can't buy an aero position. Most gains are going to be position, skinsuit, and helmet in that order. Nearly everyone can afford those things. And pretty much everyone I know that competes will have those things. The wheels, are probably the next thing, then actual frame will be a minimal saving.

Wife is out tomorrow night so I'm lining up the first turbo session in a year. Rock and roll eh? How kind of Sufferfest to offer all their viewdos through an app for $10 a month - let the Sufferlandrian holy water flow :o

For a change getting the dreaded words from you bank as follows, was a good thing!

"please contact us due to suspicious activity on your credit card"

Turns out it was Rosebikes taking payment for my bike.

Sure enough logged in to Rosebike website to see the lovely words

"We are now assembling your bike"

Hurry UP!!!!!

my SiS Gels came today

on the instructions, it says "consume 3 Gels every 60 mins" when training, but doesn't say how many you have to consume when your racing

No bunch tonight for me, started to absolutely bucket down at 5pm before I left work in short sleeve and shorts! Thankfully had my gillet and gloves tucked away.

Also, the Strava king is heading further afield and took a good KOM today from Scott who is quite a good rider! Steven lawley has been scottish hill climb champion too....Ross is strong as!

Yup, got caught in the same deluge in shorts/t shirt as well. Drenched.

See, now i just don't get that. The guy is obviously an extremely strong rider, so why is he wasting his effort on the cycling equivalent of stamp collecting? He could be out there competing with some of the best riders around the area and he's clearly got the talent to do so. Makes no sense to me why you'd put all that effort into going after stuff, that lets face it is mostly only of interest to MAMILs in Team Sky kit. To each their own and all that, but i just find it odd.

Having a right nightmare with my Di2 front derailleur.

It hasn't been shifting right for a while and occasionally the chain has dropped off just when shifting the rear and going over bumps! Thought i'd finally sort it out whilst cleaning my bike but having a nightmare.

It shifts from big to small no problem. I've first set it up so that the lower limit is as close as possible when in small chainring/large cog - I have to screw the derailleur quite far out for this which doesn't seem right. From this position, i cannot get it to shift straight into the large chainring, which doesn't seem right to me. I've then set the upper limit based upon the large chainring/small cog, but i cannot get it happily shifting between the two with the limits correctly set!

From the way I see it there's only 4 possible adjustments:
1) Support bolt - This is set so it only just touches the frame
2) Low limit screw - I've got this set as far out as possible and it's basically touching the chain when in small chainring/big cog!
3) upper limit screw - again, set correctly with large chainring/small cog

I don't see what else i can do but the more i adjust the more i'm convinced something is wrong/broken because it's nowhere near right :(

See below pic - I've got the upper limit screw right out here, low limit screw again set right out and the support bolt only just touching, but it doesn't seem right:

I also noticed after initially resetting the upper/lower, in the middle gears the chain started to rub after the derailleur micro-adjusted!

Check the height and that it's parallel to the chainrings? Does the cage look splayed out at all? the outer plate should be basically vertical.

I've had to bend one back after a crash as a bodge.

If it's 11 speed then there is the trim adjustment you do in big and big cogs to set where the mech sits at it's automatic trim position. Not sure how much that will effect the up and down shift though.

The little indented part of the front mech should be vertical

Yeah he's a bit of a loner. He is totally genuine though, surprising to a few people.

Next step is to get him out with the bundy and hopefully get him into the spirit of riding in bunches.

That's fair enough. I guess it just seems a shame to see all that effort go to waste a bit. I'm not saying you have to be competitive to enjoy cycling, but most folk that aren't interested in racing are probably not putting in anything like the level of effort that he obviously does.

But aye, getting him down to the bundy or one of the other fast bunches would be a start. You can only really pick this stuff up by jumping in the deep end and getting involved.

Though i can talk, having not actually made it to a bundy yet. :o :p
