Any idea what I could use? Need some sharpish tbh.

SKS Chromo's 35mm in Black (not in stock on wiggle sorry, only in silver).

I tried some 45mm thinking I could trim them for the fork clearance (and then have loads of tyre/wheel clearance) but too much work.

I'm continuing with my Raceblade Longs but only as I've now cut my stays and fitted them to my guard mounts which has given me that little bit extra clearance to reduce the worst of the rubbing. Half contemplated to cut and trim my old Crud Road Racers and rivet them into the RB mounts for a some 'frankenguards' until I buy the SKS Chromo's 35mm... ;)

Lost a KOM to Willhub this morning - damn you.

I haven't seen him post in here for a while but I know he does still frequent the site. Stop cycling so fast Will.

My Ghost MTB is a pain to ride on the road all the time and it needs a service due to rubbing disks and unserviced shocks, so I ordered the above. Hopefully it'll get me on some longer rides out.

I'm a massive roadie novice. A load of the guys from work all ride & one used to be semi pro, so I'll get my ass handed to me several times no doubt.

One of our local champions comes out on our hard bunch rides, and we're all busting a gut and going way in the red trying to hang on. Meanwhile, he waits til we go through major roundabouts and instead he goes right round them, rejoins the back of the bunch and then drops us all again. And he's doing this to guys i know are way fitter than i am who are racing at 3rd and 2nd cat level. It's quite ridiculous to see up close quite how strong guys like that are.

And then you think about how far behind the top-level pros would leave him, and it starts to get really scary....

Yeah, when i went to watch the road race in glasgow the other year, and there was a fair few folk that are well known names in cycling in scotland in that. And they were all way off the back within the first lap or so of 12. It's just another massive step up from that level to the likes of David Millar (who was in his final year) and Cav (who won it).

I could totally take them with my leet virtual power FTP on trainer road *cough*.

There aren't that many super fast guys on my commute. There's one I see semi regularly but we always seem to see each other just before I turn off the main road so we don't get to race :/ I'm fairly sure he'd drop me but it'd still be fun to give it a go.

Er, Pro4 SC came second....

one of the comments makes the very valid point that most people will just vote for what they've got, and a lot of people have skaterskins

Wow, I'm blind :(

I agree with the point about people voting for what they have. It's just a shame that so many people ride on turd tyres.

bike shops fit them when customers ask for a reliable all-condition tyre, and of course bike shops know best*

*it's been over 5 years since I paid a bike shop to do anything for me

Everyone in my group uses Gator's in the winter. They're mad about them and are always trying to get me to change ober, personally I've seen so much negative that I steer well clear.

To be honest, I can't fault the tyres that my bike came with. Continental Ultrasports. 3.2k miles, and just had my first puncture :0
