looks to be, it is longer/bigger than comet(had a chinese knockoff)

plus bits -;

metal/alu(super solid)
brightness(very very bright on max setting like literally.. blinding)
all mounts you need in the package

bad bits -;

battery life on super bright modes is a bit EH, but I'd say 50% is all you'd ever need!
saddle mount is very meh, it works when it fits your saddle but if your saddle is too far forwards forget it, if you saddle has some random design, forget it... etc!

You're reminded me.

I saw this on HUKD and thought of you :p

Anyone have experience with these sunglasses?

My eyes have been taking a battering on my last few rides from sun, bugs and wind!

No, but I have the Madison D'Arcs ones - triple lens set, and they are excellent. I have nothing to compare them to - well I do; no glasses or normal vision glasses. They pretty much completely get rid of any wind that gets in your eyes and it's lovely to hear the bugs plink off them rather than straight into your face. They're still cheap, at just a bit more than those dhb ones but they seem very resilient - haven't scratched them yet and they've fallen on the floor several times.

I've only used the Amber/dark lenses but they've been great. Tend to just stick with amber one.

I think I made a mistake, I bought a Claris groupset, used from ebay, and it comes with a set of "axis" wheels (which I don't need) and I paid 125+postage.:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131584995027

Then I saw this on wiggle this morning:
http://www.merlincycles.com/shimano...M4sUiZpGBcQIkiAgRFdpvp5bpH8niG53C8BoC9Qfw_wcB

So that's the same groupset for 109.99...

Tempted to just try and re-sell the old stuff, and buy the above.

If you've got the Claris group set and it's in good nick, you may as well stick with it and sell the wheels. You'll get £50 or so for a half decent wheel set so then you're way ahead on what you're paying for the Claris kit.

Bianchi bikes, much as I'd love one, carry a massive brand tax. Half decent frame, low end group set, £1,200. Erm.

Same with many other brands (like BMC, Wilier, Pinarello, Time, Scott, Ridley) all seem to have a 'premium' tax. I bet many justify it as just a much more expensive frame without much difference in price over the fairly standard groupsets. Except for campag! ;)

I don't know if Ultegra brakes are better than 105, but I think they use the same pads?

They will be better, then again proper 105 are better than other counterparts, I changed the Tektro 540's which came on my Giant 1 2015 to proper 105 and noticed quite an upgrade. Unsure if the 105/Ultegra change is as big, but it is certainly an upgrade. Pads make all the difference, I'm actually running Shimano pads (came with my 105's) on my front and Coolstop Salmons on the rear to cope with all weathers.

here's a quick video for anyone who needs a new light -;
its not cheap at £45(39ish online) but it's an awesome bit of kit IMO

Light looks superb, interested in the burntime/charge times. More than happy with my Cateye mini RC but am looking at another stronger rear to double up this winter... Fly6 is still a little too expensive for me.

Eventually going to buy a new road bike in the next few days, and my LBS have got 20% off the entire 2015 Giant range, looking to spend £1500 max but preferably less.

I was initially thinking about the 2016 Defy 1 Disc - http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-gb/bikes/model/defy.1.disc/24968/90516/

None of them would be a 'bad' choice but anything less than 105 on a £1000 Giant wouldn't be the best choice. Ultegra is superb, but 5800 is also. What are you riding at the moment?

One thing to note is the Defy discs are all TRP Spyre's, one of the best (I think guys?) cable actuated discs, but still cable and not hydraulic.

Observe the retardedness

Feeling the rage mate! Not really experienced the problems of matching bearings yet, but totally understand how fustrating the lack of standards/info must be!

My riding buddy dropped out last night so I did a little extended commute loop home, lots of headwinds but quite cooling so pushed quite hard as wanted to be home before 7 and was late leaving work. The route through Kenchester was ok but the road is single track so I had to stop a couple of times for oncoming traffic, towards the end of the ride I looped back out of town (towards Callow on the map) which although lots of gradual uphill is a fantastic road surface! My legs were tired but still felt strong most of the way around. Good to have a tempo/threshold short blast occasionally! :D

Not that fussed about the functionality but it's a shame that it requires premium.
Well you can do it for free via this site: http://gniza.org/segments/#/
It offers similar functionality, the only differences are that it only displays your segment finish time, it doesn't say whether it's a new PR or KOM etc.. and it's a manual process to update the segments on your device each time you improve your time.

I think my next bike will have discs, if possible. Going 40mph is kinda fun, but scares the bejesus out of me, especially when corners are fast-approaching. I don't know if Ultegra brakes are better than 105, but I think they use the same pads?
And as you say... when it's wet... eek. I never really remember to keep drying the pads before i need to actually use them.

I don't know to be honest but from what I've heard it's always worth swapping out to Salmon/Swiss-top (or something like that) pads.

Ah, useful for people that want this kind of thing :) I guess I wouldn't mind it for some segments I ride.

Was thinking about this... SwissStop ones anyway, has anyone done it? My brakes aren't "bad"... but if I can improve them with new pads, may as well...

FYI

The Garmin and Strava segment update is now complete; Compatible devices are Edge 510, 520, 810 and 1000 and a Premium Strava sub is required.
Install the latest firmware from Garmin to your device, connect your two accounts (link on Strava), re-star you fav segments and sync your device.

Full info available here : http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2015/07/introduce-segments-series.html

:)

If this is anything like the Garmin own version it'll be getting straight disabled. Possibly the most annoying thing in Garmin existence. I wan't to see my data not some flippin non existent 30m long segment halfway round RP or similar. :mad:

I have the older version of them and they are superb, better quality than my 'chinese radarlocks'. I've been using them for commuting for 2+ years and still going strong. Think I actually got them 'free' by 'referring a friend' who then ordered over £50 worth of kit? It was actually just another email address (my missus' when she ordered some stuff for herself)...

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/refermyfriends/ReferralForm

Everyone likes to get a great deal, even more so when it’s FREE! When you sign up to the Wiggle Refer a Friend scheme both you and your friend will benefit Your friends will get a free dhb Pro Triple Lens Sunglasses You will get a voucher for 10% of their first order total!

If anyone wants to be referred let me know their address in Trust ;)

The pads which came with my Tektro's on my Giant were ok in the dry but useless in the wet so I changed them out for Coolstop Salmons (one of the best wet performance:cost pad there is). The Shimano pads which came with my 105's are better (but still not as good in the wet as the Coolstops) so I still run Coolstops on my rear for the wet weather, they do wear out quite fast though.

I'm riding a Morewood Kwela 29er on 37mm touring tyres...

I can get the Advanced 3 with full Tiagra for £950 or it's another £300 for them to swap the full kit from the Advanced 2 over at £1250 (they don't have the Advanced 2 in my size), the Ultegra equipped Advanced 1 for £1320 or possibly the Advanced Pro 2 with 105 for £1500 which I could 'possibly' push to!

It's actually possible to view your position against PR/KOM and also see two other data fields on the same screen i.e. Power, cadence etc (Garmin 810 & 1000)

Even cheap dual compound Clarks are a massive improvement over Tektro pads! Reminds me, I still need to swap the pads on the Pinnacle!

I've used BB5s, BB7s, Hayes CXpro and Spyres. The Spyres are a world apart, miles betterbetter than any other came actuated discs in terms of both effectiveness and adjustment. The next best thing to hydraulics from what I've researched.
