That is something I'm considering requesting as if I do that it is no longer a company car (I would have no personal use of it) and therefore I wouldn't then have to pay company car tax on it. The downside then though is when I have to travel for work it means cycling in to get the car first and sometimes I have to leave as early as 5:00 as it is!

If you get a chance watch the last 5k of today's Paris Nice. Fantastic racing.

Good stage, nice to finally see some tactics by Sky but it's hard to ignore the excellent riding by Kwiatkowski. Relatively far back when the attack started but he managed to do some great damage limitation and still retake the overall in a field of world class climbers.

Good day at the Tirreno too. Sprint stage, but a good showing of power by MTN and well done to Magnus Cort as well for managing to finish so high with his entire team scattered from an earlier crash.

Buy your own bike :D

If that's a serious offer though...

Yeah no problem for me at all if you actually did want it delivered to a European address. Can try and work out the logistics of getting it to you later. I can even build it (whatever needs doing) for you .

Yesterday was a bit of a hectic (and expensive day!).

Landed back from South Africa at 6am, drove 90 mins to Enigma bikes to have a look at their Etape disc.

Really great company and helpful people, even took it for a test ride and fell in love instantly!! The ride was unbelievably smooth, like ridiculously smooth. Even over really bad bits of road it was still comfortable.
The disc brakes were awesome, but not overpowering.

So I bit the bullet and placed an order :) Won't be ready until early May though! :(

Mine is the same as below but with 105 groupset, and Aksium wheels. Cannot wait!

^ Very nice looking bike Shadowness. Discs, drops and mudguards - I approve :D

Finally buying a new bike this year, and part of the budget will be for a power meter. Just hope I use it properly, determined to become a proper cyclist though.

Part of me feels like it's a bit of a waste given that I don't do any racing or anything and I don't ride up nearly enough hills. Trying to improve that atm though and perhaps the power meter will also give me another kick up the arse.

It'd be good to properly test my FTP too and then be able to directly compare my Trainer Road data to what I do outside.

I certainly will be thankful of the discs on those crappy winter training rides! Although I'll feel bad about getting it dirty lol!

EDIT: Von - Yup :)

Well I really should have gotten myself a power meter when moving out for the hills around here, kicking myself a bit that I didn't.

Sweet looking ride, is it steel (looking at thin top tube)? I would also ask them to swap the tyres away from skaterskins if you're intending on riding in any rain! (although thats personal preference). The mudguards looks very similar to my Giant ones... If they are you'll find them noisey when going over any rough ground/road/pothole. I've actually bought some Raceblade Longs to replace them with when I've had enough (trying to put up with them until summer at least).

Thanks for the links mate, some lunchtime viewing :D

I wonder how long it takes before he turns his camera around and starts uploading videos of his commute where all you can see are his chest+arms? :p

(<3 you really Gurders)

Made me lol too! Although he's very quiet this morning... Video incoming?!

Zero leg power today so i had fun around town getting from one train station to the next :D

My legs were suffering on today's commute today too, but that may just have been a headwind as the weather was wet, cold and miserable! Come back spring! :(

On another note, pedal/S&C magnets arrived, 5 of them for £2.60 and incredibly quick postage - can't complain! DHB on the other hand... The Flashlight 2x bib-shorts bundles, I ordered two sizes and sent one back last month. Hadn't seen or heard anything so contacted them last night and they're out of stock (they were in stock last week) so they've taken their sweet time processing my return (2+ weeks) and hadn't notified me

Group ride I went on last saturday (30 miles, <1000ft climbing @ 17.5mph) is a 'lumpy' one this saturday... 30 miles, >2000ft climbing 16/17mph average. I've slightly reluctantly said I'll be skipping it as I'll not be able to keep up past the first climb! :( :p

Fully intending on doing my own hill repeats instead for some training ;)

What do you guys think to this? http://tsbikes.co.uk/m1b0s6p3122/GIANT_PROPEL_ADVANCED_2_2015

I may take the groupset off and fit my 10sp dura ace or keep the 11sp 105, not sure yet.

Overkill unless you're doing some racing? Very nice bike though... TCR Advanced 2 similar price...

Why not just hire one for a bit?

I think unless you're racing it's probably a waste of money for most people. You'd see similar improvement in general cycling by creating a structured training plan and just following it on the road based on perceived effort or heart rate zones.

I can't remember who, but i'm sure someone on here said to me it would be a bit like paying an accountant loads of money to tell you how poor you were. :D

But then i suspect most of us spend way more money on cycling than is actually necessary for the way we ride. But if we enjoy it, it's all worth it right?

Could be worse, i'm stuck in the position of having an obsession with guitars as well. Two expensive hobbies for the price of one. Oh yeah, and as the missus keeps reminding me, we're meant to be buying a house. Must write that down somewhere so i don't forget....

Hiring one is over £100 and requires rebuilding a wheel. I can buy a 4iiii later in the year for not a great deal more than that.

I already follow a structured training plan and have done so for a while. I agree that if I wasn't doing that then buying one would be even more pointless.

As you say, a good portion of it is down to shiny gadget desires. I could get by with a lot less than I currently have or plan to buy this year but as this is my major hobby outside of cooking and I don't have any mortgage/child responsibilities...why not? :p
