Thanks Bernny, defiantly let you know :)

I cant think of that descent up aston hill, Chinnor hill is fun, 55 MPH I get down there :)

if you go up aston hill and turn left at the top, you down another hill just the other side of aston hill, that's fairly scary, I got a PB going down there recently, its hard not to brake on that one lol

Kingston Hill, where I hit 54mph despite scrubbing of some speed for one or two of the corners  scary as I had tinted lenses on so needed them to keep the wind out of my eyes but also couldn't see that well either :p

Does anybody bother with wheel or bike bags/cases?[/B] for the cost of a set of roof rails & bars I could pick up the former for about 1/2 or 2/3rd the price. Space in the car isn't an issue for me and it'll only ever be the one bike... for now.

Looks like some wheel bags literally just offer basic protection whilst others you could be a bit more brutal with (if they were ever to go on in the hold on a plane for example).

Recommendations or ones to avoid would be welcome :)

Flew out to Barcelona a couple of weeks ago using one of these. Bike was fine at the other end flying with BA and no extra wheel bags. Managed to pack a full set of camping gear in the bag + cycle clothes as well and came in under the 25kg weight. Doubt you'd need it to just go in a car though as it'll take up a bunch of room.

has anyone done the strava local London/Windsor route? looking to do some new stuff as I'm usually just heading out SE around Biggin hill.

Was planning to do it from Richmond Park (screw the central London part) last weekend but ended up failing at adjusting my front derailleur so might attempt it this weekend. Looks quite nice, and Windsor Great Park is fairly nice for a few mini laps too.

I'd be up for that.. !

So decided to ride home from work today, slightly longer than normal.... as I was working in Horley :D

So about 65 miles or so, managed to get away for 3.30, felt dreadful for the first 1hour 45 after having a ridiculous burger and chips for lunch. Once This had moved through me though seemed to get a wriggle on and get speed up from 17.2 to 18.1 including the climb at Duncton (if anyone knows it) Lovely tailwind most of the way and glad I done it.

Good ride mate. I did Duncton for the first time in the Summer, my legs were destroyed afterwards :P Shall have to give it another crack sometime soon.

Got this year's winter front light set up sorted (smashed last year's whoops...)

AXA Greenline 50

decided to go with a Rixen Kaul fork crown mount this time, keep my bars nice and clear

I like the fork crown mount idea (if only I had the space...!) but why did you decide on the Greenline 50? It's measured in lux as opposed to lumen so quite hard to judge output... (50 lux @ 30 degree angle and 75 meter distance equates to 6000+ lumen which doesn't sound right!) :o

Can't please any bloody drivers though, although was dressed in my finest Gabba and Nanoflex gear (so quite dark) had someone pull up to me about 17:50 and say don't take this the wrong way but I can't see you, you should get some high vis.....

Black Gabba I assume? It's very hard to judge, certainly at that time with ambient light any reflective material isn't going to help (no/little car or direct lights to reflect off material) as well as ambient being bright enough (sunset @~6.30) that any lighting we carry being fairly inefficient. Visibility is dictated by the local conditions (shadows, sun in drivers eyes, overcast) and really does boil down to the individual driver. One may have rubbish eyesight and only just notice high viz (ignoring black), one may spot you from miles away and another may only catch a reflection off you/bike or from your lights. Your guy sounds like the former (blind as a bat), but at least he seemed polite enough to let you know he struggled to see you!

"Don't take this the wrong way but you need an eye test..."

Worryingly not compulsory for driving... Once drivers pass their test @18 (or whatever) their eyesight doesn't need to be tested to keep their licence and is only possibly checked in case of an accident related to lack of visibility. Bizzare - you don't need to see to drive

Drove in today as my LBS have said they want to check out the new (2015) Giant Speedshield Defy mudguards on my Defy 1 2015 (which they're designed for) which I've fitted and complained about. I've had to bend some parts and cut some bits to fit them so I'm not expecting my money back (they didn't fit them after all) but at the very least I want them to be aware. I'm going to happily go back to my previous guards (SKS Raceblades) as although they have their flaws, they're still the best guards I've tried.

tempted to get this -;

anyone has got one ? either the BE or the normal?

race fit kinda scares me, I go large in DHB tops so looking at the measurements I'd need XL here..

I've found the regular DHB stuff sizes on the big size so maybe the race fit stuff is truer to size? Maybe order a couple and return one. It looks like a nice jersey though.

I've just seen they're doing a waterproof jacket that looks very similar to the Castelli Muur/Pocket Liner but half the price. It's expensive still at £85 but if the performance is similar then I think that represents good value:

there's a warning in the description saying to order a size up, I got a dhb compression baselayer yesterday, in Large and that is TIGHT as hell - more than usual that's why I'm a bit concerned about the size, I want something tight but not too tight haha :)

that does look good but I can't stand loose fit cycling kit :( they seem to sell some good kit! always reasonable-ish prices compared to top end names like casteli..

Christ Wiggle are getting on my nerves. Spoke to a guy first thing this morning who said my order should have been dispatched already and he'd get it sorted.. and my order is still not processed. Three days stuck at processing and I paid for 1st class delivery.

so I emailed them yesterday and got quite a rude reply lol :)

basically, I bought it with first class delivery..

next day I got a text and email from the company saying that it will be delivered today.. cool I thought!

2 hours on I get another text saying sorry we won't deliver today..

3 hours after that I get an email from dispatch at work telling me that my package has been delivered???

so the reply to the email was along the lines of

"yeah but it did get delivered so eh, deal with it? we'll pass it over to our delivery team dadada.."

ignored the fact that the same company has failed to find the address two times in the row, on the day they "attempted to deliver" yet had no problem the next day..

lol the moment you get a new stem and bam, one of the bolts won't go in for what ever reason...

wait a minute.. :|

Yeah, I got one recently - review is up on the site.
I'm slim build (74kg / 38" chest), not much in the way of upper body and pretty tall (6'1"). I went medium, which on the body is a second skin cut on me but the fabric seems like it has a fair bit of stretch. The arms are slightly looser, there's space for some guns for sure.

Worn it with a thin (Rab?) baselayer on the last couple of days, kept me warm on the commute. Remains to be seen how it will hold up in the coldest weather. I'd probably want a winter specific base layer underneath.

Nice material, and I think it looks pretty pimping in stealth black. I'd recommend it.

sounds good! I picked an XL and I'll see how I cope with that!

I'm around 5'9, 42-43" chest@76kg so I think I'll be alright in an XL! hopefully arms are not too tight but we'll see, worst case scenario I'll return it for a bigger/smaller size :o:D I do love the way it looks tho! very rapha/premium looking and at £59 with 17% discount it's a good price IMO.

Only for my solid disc wheel, but that's because the surface dents easily if you bash it around.

oh dear about your Wiggle purchases guys, I have around £60 in wiggle vouchers to use sometime otherwise I wouldn't use them lol

Anyone use or can recommend me some lightweight tights for spring/autumn ? I have tights but are too thick for these conditions, I don't have leg warmers, so I thought id get something light to cover my legs and my nuts as they are feeling the chill
