For my carbon frame, minimum 105 & hydro discs my options are both £2500...

8r carbon vs 10r carbon...

Wish they did this colour as a disc option!

Have you checked how much the Shimano hydro brakes are separately? Guessing it's still not worth buying a cheaper disc frame, and then pricing in the extra cost of the shifters and calipers?

Midweek leg stretch. First climb about 6 miles in so just about warmed up. Nice short steady climb to start a ride with

11 months later, 90 seconds quicker, I'll take that :p

:p - You're making this harder!!

I've been debating the last 2 week what summer bike I want to buy, someone was selling a Cervelo S5 Di2 2014 for £2400. Then I saw the Canyon Aeroad for £3500, the Giant Propel looks awesome too...

It's escalating quickly, but I definitely want something more aggressive and nicer than my pinnacle commuter!

A nice Canyon for summer 2017? Sorry couldn't resist.

I have a giant propel and its really nice. Not quite as nice as the propel advanced build on here with SRAM eTap on in... :(

Ok so the Diverge is exciting to me. I'll probably never take it down a gravel path but I might next time I tried to ride up Boltby Bank and give up near the bottom, then take the side road up to a nice cafe, which is a farm track (like railway ballast) sort of surface back to the main road at the top. Not the most comfortable route on my current bike.

But regarding "rack" mounts - surely the carbon isn't strong enough to support a rack with anything on it? At least that's what Genesis say about their Datum.
Would love it if it could support a few KG in a rack/panniers/bag (macbook and clothes)

If the carbon isn't strong enough to hold a few KG, I'd be questioning what the hell the bike is made out of. Surely it's strong enough to withstand that...

For £2.5k, I'd go the whole hog and build the bike from scratch. With Chinese carbon frame and carbon wheels, <£2000 will get you di2 and hydraulic discs, easy. My Di2 Hydro Genesis build was <£2100, and I could build it cheaper now.

If it's designed to withstand 80kg or so of meat I'm sure it can handle a rack and panniers.

In other news, it was horribly windy on the way home. Urgh.

Going from Sora on a 2015 Defy 3 to the following,

Ultegra 6800 11 speed cassette 11-32
105 5800 rear brake calliper
105 5800 front brake calliper
105 5800 172.5 crankset
105 5800 11 speed shifter set
Ultegra 6800 BB 68mm English thread
Ultegra 6800 11 speed chain
105 6800 rear mech GS
105 5800 double 11 speed front mech

Am I missing anything?

I've been offered this, I haven't typed any of the list, what do I need to ask the guy?

Rear mech is 105 5800

Hmm. How much use has it had? If you're in British Cycling you can get full new 5800 (with 6800 BB) for £270 at CRC. The only 6800 bits on there are the chain, cassette, BB and rear mech, only the last of which is not a consumable.

Had some dopey cow almost knock me off twice in about 30 seconds tonight.

She pulled out in front of me when let out by a car driver, then got to a roundabout and I was sat on her inside, she was so concentrated on being able to get out and she almost drove straight into me. I gave her a right earful, at which point she decided to try to get round me and almost caused another accident.

Lovely evening but it's still bloody chilly with the wind, bit of a tired ride as not eaten a great deal today, but nice few easy days now before my first TT of the year on Sunday! Going to be a cold one!
