Managed to go meet the 8 guys that turned up for the first training ride.

Made it further than I thought at first, took a series of two bridges which make 4 corners slow as ****! Usually I'm the one going round the outside of people in the dry but I'd lost my bottle.

That created a gap that never really closed, pedaled up the bad hill with a guy who caught up with me(slower than I did last week and actually quite cosy). Met said guys mate 3/4 way up and then the three of us just wheeled about the rest of the way, did nearly 4 minute spell at 26mph average(slight downhill) for one of the bits just to hurt a bit more.

Add in hailstones, darkness and heavy rain at the end and I'd say it was a good wee ride.

Garmin 810 turned up today,so many things on it :)

When i ordered the 810 i ordered a holder which brings the unit out a bit more, little did i know it came with one, will have a spare now :)

It looks a lot like another frame I recognise, I think one of the Planet X ones, which would fit with open mould.

Hmm, nah, not a PX one, unless it's a discontinued one.

I also don't get what the big deal is. It looks like a decent enough aero frame, buts that's not exactly a hard thing to come by, and then it's just down to the funny stem computer which might save you 0.2W in drag compared to just sticking your garmin on the front. Oh, and it's got a light on it, because obviously that's the sort of bike you'll routinely ride in the dark.

It's an interesting idea. But for a start who rides with a Garmin AND a mobile on their bars  Also what if I find a shiny new stem I want. I think it's a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist.

I'd rather have a Wahoo Elemnt if I'm honest.

How high is high?

Any bibs in my kit that goes above the belly button with a zip is most definitely designed for winter. Would not enjoy in summer!

Would a mesh base layer under the bibs help with comfort?

I'm after something similar to my current tights:

I often wear a base layer now but ideally I can find a pair of shorts with a similar cut :(

I got the Zwift orange jersey last night with a rubbish lap time. I am king!

Chilly but at least dry this morning. My shoes had just about dried out but my overshoes were still soaked, so I rode in without them and got cold feet and have put them in the drying room at work.

Is Spring ever going to arrive?

We were really spoiled with that weather a couple of weeks ago! At least it's sunny but it's pretty Baltic out there at the moment. Nevertheless, I'm going to take advantage of the longer evenings and sunny (if a bit breezy) forecast to get out for a bit tonight.

I'll going on the turbo tonight and building up to heading out for the start of April and no doubt my average speed will be right down on when i was last out
Your speeds will almost certainly be down, but set some realistic goals, ride for the right reasons and you'll get the bug back, THEN the speed will come! :D

Look OK, ideally want plain black or plain white.
Plain black for commuting! 'Road gravy' is black! Northwave shoes are generally well regarded, the Sonic 1's were occasionally on amazing deals. Although those seem quite vented, have you got overshoes/shoecovers already?
One of the guys who rides in to my old place in central Manchester had some gotetex northwave boots. I think I'll be picking some up come Autumn, if I'm going to try to ride all through winter. For now I'm just planning to pick up some decent touring shoes and I'll keep my current pair in reserve for when the decent ones get soaked.
They're great, just let down by the huge design flaw that is your leg when it's really lashing down!
Great shoes, the Celsius I had (boohoo some courier lost them when sending to Paul!) were more comfortable than the much more expensive Sidi Hydro I'm now wearing. These suffer from the same design flaws - neopryene uppers/leg grippers/strap bit which soak up water so in a downpour you'll still get damp feet from the top. Lowers are totally waterproof, the Castelli Nanoflex shoe covers should make them 99% waterproof in downpours (as you don't need the insulation you get from full neopreyne) but I've not used them yet (luckily not really ridden in a downpour for a while!). Quite a good price on those Castelli at the moment (£20) which I've not seen for a while...
It doesn't have a Canyon label on it mate... ;)

I just end up doing a "bend over, flop it out, look like I'm crapping at the same time" stance at the urinal :p
Lol! When I was 'bigger' I used to just pop the bib straps off my shoulders and that would give me enough stretch as my shorts were quite tight. Now I'm 'smaller' I don't have that problem.
Toilet breaks aren't an issue, the main thing I'm after is a high cut bib to keep my fat gut in one place :p
Most 'winter' or roubaix shorts will generally be cut higher. My Sportful Fiandre are an inch or two higher than my Castelli Evoluzione but nowhere near has high as the DHB bib tights. Some compression base layers could be a better & cheaper option?

Congrats! Must've been a very quiet night with that lap time lol
Daylight robbery base layer! Craft have brand tax?! Since when!? ;)

I've felt the fabric (but don't own one) and they feel very similar to the Sportful ones I wear which are regularly on sales for less than £15 (currently £12!). They are the most wicking of any base I've tried (been through all of DHB, Santini & Castelli. I've worn them through winters and will wear them all spring/autumn with only mesh style bases for summer. They do a 'BodyFit Pro' but they are much more expensive, with compression and higher temperature range.

Ta! Just ordered some of those... been needing to order some short sleeve base layers for a while now.

I was actually just away to ask about a short sleeve base layer. The long sleeve one is getting a bit warm under the LS Gabba. Still need the Gabba because of the wind.

Will probably pick one of these up :D Thanks. I take a small in the dhb Baselayer, so I'm assuming small works here too?

@ FrenchTart: No worries. It is incredibly dodgy.
