What's a cheap alternative to something like a Gabba? Someone mentioned the DHB Windslam the other day. Is that at all the same functionally? Like, even close? You don't need to tell me it's not nearly as good, I can guess that from the price, but whether it's at all similar.

Or any other suggestions?

I've got an Aldi softshell that I picked up last year, but it doesn't breathe terribly well.

I can't vouch for this myself, but some people have suggested a neoprene wetsuit top as a base layer. It will not be water repellent like a Gabba, but it should remain warm when wet which is the best thing about the Gabba IMO. Decathlon do a range, could be worth a go.

I don't wear anything like a gabba
closest thing I have would be the Altura Night Vision (its fleece lined with a water resistant outing) and that servers me very well

Haha was only kidding, I know some of you get plenty of rain! Any experience with Knog lights?

Blinder 1 rear. I'll probably leave it attached (and only remove when it needs charging) if the rubber strap is that poor, I've never been a fan of them anyway on other lights long term.

Nope, I use exposure lights, made in the UK!

The flare rear light which is USB chargeable is bright but water does get in through the USB charging port in extreme wet, cops all the road spray on he seatpost mount. It's usually only a few ml worth so just requires taking apart to dry.

Went on one of my clubs intro rides to introduce a work friend to group riding and potentially joining. He had a puncture and a few fitness issues but it was little more than a gentle ride for me but I think he got the taste for it, despite the grim rain!

Tempted to go on a club ride tomorrow too if I can be bothered.

Ugh..weather is taking forever to clear up. I'm pretty tempted to write off today for cycling.

edit: Looking at non-BBC weather reports it's constant showers. Maybe I'll get the turbo set up. Or actually have a proper rest day (aside from gym).

just go HAM at the gym and be done with it ;) that's what I do every weekend... weekdays are for cycling and weekends are 100% gym and nothing else.

Has somebody hacked FrenchTarts ocuk account? Doesn't sound like him...

I'm feeling tired and I've cricked something in my neck. I'm grasping at excuses :p

I've kind of already done a fair bit of weight work whilst waiting for the weather to clear up. It's looking a little brighter now so maybe I'll get out for a quick one.

Absolutely glorious Morning in the end down here, after initial fears of showers all day! Went over towards Goodwood as it's revival this weekend which I'm going to tomorrow, spotted some lovely cars out, and didn't almost get run over for the first time in quite a while it seems :D Didn't leave until 11, but got some stuff done before, had warmed up nicely by that time.

Was just a bit windy though! so easy on the way out, hard as on the way back! https://www.strava.com/activities/390426808

Or just stay at home, watch a few episodes of the Wire with a few beers, pizza and crisps...

You might be on to something with that. Ended up 'shutting my eyes for a second' and fell asleep. Think I'll pop out for some junk food and get some chips sorted to go with my steak for later.
