The Tour of Britain 2016 route has been announced.

I'm hoping to see it for the 4th year on the run, assuming I can get a day off work, and it's coming to Tatton on the Tuesday, which is a doddle for me to get to.

Aye was thinking the same. Pretty localbor find a space near the Cat and Fiddle.

PS, worst commute home evs. Just horrible. Heavy rain, cold and driving wjnd that slowed me to a crawl.

Wheee, I flew in this morning, until I got stuck in a queue in the last mile. I had a good bit of silly commuter racing for a few miles, overtaking some guy and then holding him off until he turned off mwahahaha.

My legs are feeling a little sluggish today so I took it quite slowly on the way in. Definitely nothing to do with going out for a few beers last night...

The problem with CO2 inflators... .is they're cack. There, I said it.
Which have you used?

Was on a chain gang so probably would have been going somewhere near 30mph. That would have ejected the rider head first off the bike is my guess.
404 now, I'm guessing due to police investigations. Shocking to hear, especially the circumstances. Thoughts to his family and friends and hate directed to the council! Mine has a pothole/works map which is so inaccurate and full of bogus data it's a wonder they get any work done. Oh wait, they don't!

hi, been thinking about a roadie and looking into of 1 of these which would you say to go for or anything else around this price? just starting so don't want to spend to much.

mekk has better gears i think and carbon fork but is the specialized a better frame ?
cheers for any input
Both are good starting bikes, read some online reviews of each to make an informed decision. If you have a local Decathlon then some of their own brand are worth looking at (and our usual go to budget option). With your low budget it is probably worth visiting some LBS to see what S/H trade ins they have - you would get more for your money.

More info on RCUK about it, including mentioning some of the climbs and routes. I'm probably going to ride out to stage 5 and catch it going past Gloucester with some friends. Quite tempted to also go to Builth Wells and catch the finish there for stage 4, but would probably drive there.

Did a turbo session last night, was half tempted to do an FTP test but rapidly running out of time left me with few options. I started to do 2*15 minute @FTP sessions and really struggled so settled for some 30s on/30s off 300-350W efforts followed by an all out 500W+ sprint. Fairly happy with that considering my tired legs couldn't hold 210W for my FTP session... Just couldn't find the right cadence/gear! Bane of using my 11-32 cassette on the turbo! :(

Intended to do a recovery commute this morning but had too many 'targets' to drop on the Acre...:p

How IS riding with a rucksack? Are there any that don't instantly give you sweaty back? like with the airflow thing?
I bought a topeak seatpost bag thing, it just fits my DSLR in it... idea being that I can take nice pictures when i'm oot and aboot. Problem is it weighs about 2.4kg all in.... is it a stupid idea to take it with me, or a cunning plan?

Don't really have room for a tripod, or maybe I do with the travel one. Not really tried. Don't think it's sturdy enough for said camera.

Rule #5 ?

I wouldn't want to carry anything that heavy in one but if you're just carrying some clothes a rucksack is fine. You'll get a sweaty back but if you get a decent sports rucksack it's not as bad as it will have some airflow channels built into it.

It messes up the handling of your bike a hell of a lot less than panniers so I much prefer it where possible.

Nah, if you get the panniers seated right the handling is fine. You want the weight above or in front of the rear wheel, much like your own weight, and then it isn't a problem. If the weight is behind the wheel then yeah, it'll fishtail, so don't do that. My first try with the panniers I had them too far back and the handling did indeed suck, but it's been fine since I moved them forward.

I hated riding with a rucksack. Centre of mavity too high, strain on my back, sweating like mad... Urgh.

Although saying all that once I get a locker at work I'll probably just ride in with panniers st the start and end of the week to ferry my clothes back and forth and then bring just my lunch in a musette each day, like a boss.
