Road Cycling

Partly why I didn't buy Vectors, looks like a ballbag hanging off each crank :|

What's the ground clearance with the pods? I thought they didn't require any extra and that it tucks out the way at the bottom of each pedal stroke?

Cracked me up. I don't notice any extra clearance issues/ difference. I like my ballbags hanging from my pedals. It's where they should be.

Where are they riding? To be honest I doubt you need a full sus unless doing some really rocky bumpy stuff. There are probably a fair few deals about on Cube stuff. Generally good value!

A mate has a full sus 27.5" and I cope mostly fine on a cheap hardtail 29er. Probably not on really rocky mountains but Afan wasn't too ridiculous!

More to the north, Hopton woods, there's a couple of onbike videos but they're fb not YT so can't really link them. They look like rough forestry trails with several drops down to forestry tracks and multiple rough parts over exposed roots. Not that much gravel or rocks, but almost completely through trees with plenty of mud and several jumps. Looks very technical! :o

No. This is where they should be!
Op went well.

I'm tentatively starting cycling this weekend!
Good to hear! Take it easy and good luck with recovery & riding! :)

Hard frost here this morning, -4 with -6 or more windchill. Thumbs numb and couldn't get my gloves off when I got to work! :o

Had a quick look at some vids of the hopton woods red trails. Looks doable enough on a CX bike. I'd probably steer clear of the DH specific stuff tho.

i started out in the days of canti-braked, fully rigid mountain bikes and i'd nail one of those down it no problem, so a disced up CX bike should have enough talent to keep you out of too much trouble

I'd make the journey for that, depending on when. I need a few months probably to get back to fitness.
Pretty sure it'd be a 'nobody gets left behind' social ride/sportive with the occasional segment effort, not some pro sub 4 hour OcUK team! We'd need team forum jerseys before being too pro! ;)
Wife got me one of those for Christmas Roady... ha
Haha I contemplated getting some for my mates but they were always stupid expensive for what they were (a basic light in some clear silicone). What colour are your *ahem* balls? Do you use them and how much do they swing?! :D

Yeah I'd seen some fairly basic hard tails doing the blues and some of the reds so figured I'd be ok there, but the videos I saw of my mate doing it with a group I don't think my Diverge could manage! Couple of them on hardtails struggled! :(

Chilterns ride in August/Septmber sounds ace! Count me in!

We're Everesting Whiteleaf :p  #dead

What we could actually do, in a similar sort of fashion to my club runs, is have a set 70, 50, 30 miler route and aim to pass by particular locations or loop back on ourselves at certain times to pick up fresh legs, so those not wanting to do the longer ride(s) (or time constrained) can do a distance/speed more suited to their fitness.

The club actually sets off at the same time and rides slightly different routes at different speeds but all finish back at the same location at the same time.

I know the area relatively well so can plot up plenty of friendly (read: punishing) routes :p

So I start a new job next month which is an 18 mile commute each way. Best get back to some regular riding then. Going to do a few practice runs and give myself a few different route options but looking forward to it. :)

Whilst I'm all for supporting local shop - it's hard when you have to pay £8 for a long valve inner tube.

I did mention they are £2.99 on Wiggle for the same Continental one!!! He said it's normally £10 for the long valve ones.

that would take u almost 2 hours!

Expecting it to take 1.20/1.30 depending on traffic.

Cycled 24 miles in 1:50 last week but not much traffic out during the day. We'll soon find out anyway, will do a few dummy runs on my days off to check timings and see what traffic is like.

Does make it a bitter pill to swallow when the price difference is that much!

Your club runs sound very organised! Kudos! Some of the clubs routes could be a good solution for an OcUK ride!? Speed & Distance options!

Congrats on the job change and wanting to cycle that commute, much elevation? Commuting is a great way to rack up miles, ask Von how much his increased! Similar length commute too?!
it would if you're slow?

I'd say 1:20ish is what I'd expect.
Not all of us have commutes with 0 elevation, warm weather and perfect roads. We can't TT them like you! ;)

Noticed several of the WT teams riding with 4iiii PWM's in 2017, notably Quickstep & Bora-h. Has anyone got one? I think Pete looked at them but didn't get one?

I wrongly had 4iiii pegged as a cheapy alternative to Stages but with some serious WT teams riding them (with only Sky using Stages?) there must be a reason. Maybe I need to consider them!

Meh. Have a saddle sore starting and earliest rest day I can take is Friday. I can just commute through it but had wanted to ramp up Turbo miles this week which won't help it. Typical I get a sore after 3 weeks of low mileage and 1 off the bike. The 1 week/10 days off the bike have caused my arse to get too soft, had some real aches last week (which are now gone) but now this damn sore!

Your roads are perfect in comparison with most of the country! I nearly hit a squirrel this morning. Pot holes big enough here that wildlife are using them for winter nut storage! :p

Traffic maybe worse but your weather is warmer! :p
