Road Cycling

The new Cube NuRoad might be worth a look too.

Yeah, the second model up with hydraulics looks nice spec for the cash.

My five days at Longleat started with a ~75 mile trek from Warminster train station to climb three cat3s in the Mendips and then head back to Center Parcs on the fatbike with 2.35" G-Ones fitted. Loved it, especially seeing Cheddar Gorge for the first time!
But only managed two small rides after that ride on Monday, until heading home now.
Just £13 return Advance ticket between Southampton and Warminster!

Nice. I've got to get out that way some time. I've been to Cheddar Gorge a couple of times but just climbing/hiking... I need to take the bike. It looks like the climb up through it would be fairly challenging.

Moving to training solely indoors on the KickR's fresh cassette has expectedly accelerated my chain-wear somewhat!

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the search.

Might be worth chucking it on here: https://stolen-bikes.co.uk/

Try this for checking for sales too: http://www.findthatbike.co.uk/

Also worth searching for just the frameset and any particular parts on the bike as it may have been stripped down.

noooo my Edge 1000 has broken :( well the power switch has broken from the board. Trying to find someone to repair as Garmin was £195 for a refurb unit....

Looking at models, the 820 is basically a 1000 but in a smaller shell I believe? Don't want to move away from Garmin as I have so many mounts that would need replacing.

As others have said/hinted at, I'd move to the Elemnt (Bolt) personally. I moved from the 810 to it and despite the black and white display it is an upgrade in many ways. So much more reliable too. The 820 I've seen in action was similarly unimpressive.

Boo, wanted to ride today, but I managed to pull something in my back yesterday morning and could barely walk after that. Just about recovering now, should be back on the bike for work on Tuesday.

Met up with @Liefrich on friday, wrapped up warm and did a good loop with him. Temperatures started at around zero but expecting it lower I was slightly overdressed! Stripped off some layers and promptly missed a turn to the meeting point. Doh! :D Good social ride and found/discovered some good roads I wasn't even aware of by following a frankenstein route from one of the local clubs. Really enjoyed it as the weather was on our side - bright and sunny, bitter cold wind in places but not as cold as forecast so we were prepared for it. It was good to get out a different direction than I normally ride with someone strong enough I didn't have to stop after every climb! Great riding Rich and great to meet you! :)

In other news, finally ordered my Zipp Course 30 wheelset. LBS price matched the deal on Wiggle for all sorts of awesome! Just as well really as I can see a buckle in my rear wheel getting worse. Can't wait to swap them out! Need to source some new discs though as the Zipps are 6bolt while mine are CL. Really wanted the Ultegra/DA level discs with fins as they look awesome but can't now I'm moving away from CL. Question is do I play with switching to 160mm discs front and rear...? They should fit under my BR-785 calipers.

Yeah north of Chichester. Going to have some good stuff coming next year. Not seen my mate as excited before about the products that are due and he can't tell me anything about them..
Awesome! Glad to hear they're doing well, always like to see something new from brands I rate, although my bank account might decide otherwise!

Looks like I've been (willingly) dragged in to this next year :o:eek:

4 man team for the full 24hr relay. R.I.P ass.
Ouch! Good luck and you'll need to get some buttock endurance training in! Although at least Brands is a good and interesting circuit, it is quite exposed in some places.

The 810 looked quite repairable when I had it apart, if the switch has just come away from the board you might be able to re-solder it? Not quite sure about replacing it though.

How much are they? I would need 5....
I bought one for my K-Edge from Tredz for £4.99 delivered. Genuine Wahoo part. Madison are the UK distributors and lots of the online places buy from them so hunt around for a bargain. When I last looked they varied from £5-£15 in price (inc shipping). When I first looked they where only available in the USA and I considered sourcing some but never did and just waited.

I have read you can just turn the garmin adapter 90 degrees. Not sure how well that actually works or if it's really that secure though.
Did this for ~6 months with my K-Edge. Put some paper and then some sticky back velcro behind the tab to hold it in place as it will rotate with vibration otherwise. I started with a rubber band but it didn't stay that straight so packing the rear was the best solution.

The rear/puck/socket of my Superstar garmin mount was a much more secure fit, but almost too tight to get the ELEMNT into without really stressing the tabs which I didn't like doing so I switched it out for the plastic mount the ELEMNT came with.

YMMV depending on your mounts & compatibility.

I'm still on the hunt for a bike out here, finding more and more routes each week and the Propel is slowly suffering.
Good list. Also look at the Cannondale Slate? Pricey but very good reviews. Trek Domane also (IsoFix) looked good and is what my LBS where pushing me towards (until the prices where slashed on the Diverge).

Is that your sweat? :D
It's tears.

I went for a little group ride in the Chilterns on Saturday. Some forecasts had predicted there might be a slight shower... result was just over an hour nice riding before biblical rain set in and on wet muddy roads I just got completely frozen. We soldiered on to the cafe stop (in an old barn) and it must have been colder in there than outside but we still stopped for a while warming up with coffee and bacon rolls. After the cafe stop it was a case of taking the most direct route back to Amersham. The climb up through High Wycombe high street came as a surprise (never been there before).

I've never felt so damn cold and wet on a ride. Not even an MTB ride. I certainly made some poor kit choices (some stuff I should have taken was left in the car as "it looks alright") but we hadn't quite expected that weather.

I've got a 200mm disc on the front of my disc bike
