Road Cycling

Do you actually need 'road' discs or are the equivalent size with MTB labelling compatible?
That's what I'm figuring out, looks like there's not much physically different. It looks like any Shimano rotors non-ultegra & non-DA are 'XT' branded which I think is Shimano's branding for off-road (thinking groupsets), so therefore there are no lower groupset/non-series road specific rotors? Ergo - get anything that looks suitable & within budget. I'm tempted to stay with Shimano just as I know them.

Just get em from Superstar, all do the same job..
That's great, if any of them other than the 'Alpine EVO' @£30 each where in stock... :p

Anyone aware of different rotors for hydra calipers, or lower/older ones which are not suited/recommended for hydra use? Or nothing I need to worry about?

Some respectable slopes there: Kop, Whiteleaf, Top half of Bedlow, Kingston

You can't be far from @Bear at all. When spring rolls around and I'm riding outdoors again I'll give you both a nudge :)

I had done Whiteleaf before and we hadn't planned to do it this ride but I was talking about it as we went up Kop and the others wanted to give it a try. I think it's harder than Kop but they disagreed. I don't recall the Bedlow climb. Kingston was okay but I was more focused on how cold / wet I was! :D

I'm over West London / Surrey way. We just decided to drive out Chilterns to meet a friend from Essex (somewhat midway/interesting). However certainly up for coming out that way again (with better weather!) for a little OcUK meetup. It's nice to ride out somewhere different!

@Roady yes XT is an MTB Shimano series à la Ultegra. It might be worth checking Uber bike for rotors too.

The experience I've had so far with Uberbike pads I'm not going to bother with anything else of theirs. Save 50% and get only 20% life out of components. Just not worth it! :(

I've been battling manfully, but it's an uphill struggle.

The highlight for me so far has been the claim that someone who shall remain nameless is delayed by cyclists for 40 minutes on their 34 mile round trip commute every day.
Haha. I missed that in my brief flick through!

I noticed you've been holding up the fort :p

You reckon? I’m a long way off needing new pads but was wondering about them. Who do you recommend instead? Who does anyone recommend?

I'd agree with you. Kop is steeper and does progress linearly but overall it's slightly shorter. Whiteleaf undulates between 15-17% so getting any sort of rhythm is difficult. Visually it's also quite a bit more intimidating I found in the past.

Wiggans Lane, the full climb starts on the B4009, Lower Icknield Way. Mostly shallow grades, as a short fast descent and then a bit of a kick at the top  Watched @Steedie suffer on it earlier in the year.

We'll get something on the calendar in 2018, @FrenchTart owes me a visit :p

I might even have recovered my fitness by then too ;)
