Road Cycling

Crashing into anything parked in a car, bike etc, won't get a lot of sympathy from anybody in here!

!!!!!!!!

Expecting there to be nothing round a blind corner is pretty silly.

I didn't expect a huge truck to be sitting there further back than it should have been on double yellows! slightly up on the kerb too, no hazard lights he wasn't even in his cab. I was going way too fast though to be fair and I was 16 :D

This is what happens when you ride with a broken downtube and no saddle on the seat post.

for several years I ran sessions refurbishing donated bikes at a local bike reuse charity. We once had someone pop in looking for spares who'd split the downtube on his old steel frame. His solution...

he cut the remainder of the tube out and "replaced" it with a steel cable wrapped around the headtube and BB. I was so scared by it that I *gave* him a frame from our disposal pile. I saw him riding the cabled frame a couple of months later though.

+1 for riding your bike
+1 for MS Paint skills
-1 for riding skills
-1 for hitting a parked stationary vehicle on the opposite side of the road regardless of age

Do yu even BMX bro!?

Totally agree, but he's a prime example of what I'm seeing more and more on Zwift - he'd not ridden outside for months (since September I think!?) so his technique and riding is totally Zwift centric. I think that's why there's more and more people building 'rocker plates' for Zwift to improve the experience and immerse themselves further. More and more people just don't bother riding at all outside in the winter months any more. Zwift has become their winter riding, not just a way of 'filling in the gaps' between outside rides.

To be fair, that's pretty much me these days. In the past, I'd go out in the dark on a midweek evening and do 90 mins of blatting round the lanes, but by the time you've gotten changed etc it's a big chunk of your evening gone. I can get a similar volume of training done in 75 mins on Zwift and getting ready is literally a 2 minute job.

Genius! :D I split the downtube of my first bike riding into the back of a van at a roundabout. Fortunately the driver didn't notice (or didn't care). I rode more sensibly after that.

Is it just me or does the Strava Local Activity Search seem to just take you back to the Dashboard?

Segments, Athletes and clubs work fine...

Edit: Same for Create Segment.

Opposite side? it was on my side?

I thought the pavements where the roads and the cars where houses. Ergo you where riding off the right hand side of the road into a van parked on the right hand verge. :P

Similar here, getting more and more into Zwift has just meant I've not even considered any riding this winter outside of the saturday social ride and even those have become 'selective'. I've got wet/filthy/cold on most of them I've done since October so the novelty has worn off lol

I've found several Strava things have been buggy/broken and the whole site sluggish for several weeks/a month or more. I originally thought it would speed up once they stopped much of the rider grouping with Zwift rides but it didn't seem to make much difference.

I am in love with my new long sleeve Jersey. I'd read a lot about the Castelli Perfetto but now after owning one for a week I can see what all the fuss is about.
It has actually managed to replace my winter jacket at the moment. I've cycled through rain, heavy winds and even 1 degree weather this morning, and with just a base layer underneath I have been perfectly happy on my commute to work. Can't reccomend this enough! (Had to get an XL though as opposed to a usual L - they are a very tight fitting piece of clothing)

.

-10 for not being able to read a simple diagram which clearly no one else has any trouble reading. This is worse than me actually crashing into the back of the truck!

After reading your message again, it doesn't even make sense! "where the roads and the cars where houses" ??

How the hell did you come to that visualisation?

I think the houses/cars are the central white line road markings :)

Yup. Clearly this is obvious and I was travelling downhill in the left hand lane then turning left as pointed by the arrows.

New Perfetto is basically a Gabba if I remember correctly? Gabba is my go-to during winter. Covers anything from freezing to 12C. I occasionally wear a fleecier jersey if I'm expecting the ride to be less heat-generating or there's a lot of wind chill.
The only time I didn't like it was during a monsoon in the chilterns. I got soaked through and the cold wet fabric of the Gabba really didn't keep me warm. It must have weighed a kilo or two when I took it off full of water! (still regret leaving the waterproof jacket in the car!)

Found a thread on the support board, plenty of others experiencing the same.

Glad I don't pay for or have premium!

Some support thread claimed they were going to revert the setting that gives PRs for new roads/first attempts in January. Has that actually happened yet?
