I thought for £33 it was worth a punt. And thought the TPU tubes are light enough it’s probably a benefit to have one in there

Also replaced my busted sadly bag with a Silca Mattone. Not being able to rescue myself was one of the things stopping me going on longer solo rides. No excusss now

Ah, £33 isn't bad. Came up at €58 for me which is more like £45

I always want a decent bag, but some of the bikepacking style ones seems so crazy expensive!

The Silca Mattone is great. Looks really good IMO as well.

I guess the drawback is that it's small but I'm hoping I can fit everything in there

Yeah its compact but that just means you have to think about what you put in there. Couple of TPU tubes, mini tool, tubeless plugs, tyre lever, quicklink. Sure there are a few other gubbins I stick in as well.

I have a saddle that has a bit of a weird rail shape at the moment and the mattone doesn't fit it very well unfortunately. I've just been stuffing a few bits into my bib shorts. I'm sure if I actually had an issue I would be missing everything I actually need but if I don't have any issues it works fine :p

Yeah I think I should be able to get everything. Though you've reminded me I need to grab some quick links as I don't have any!

Gave that udder cream a go last night. I bought the 400g tub but I think I'm going to order the 1.1kg tub and decant into a smaller one mixed with a few oils/shea butter. It worked no worse than other creams I've used.
Problem is my partner gave the cream a go on some dry skin last night and said it basically cleared up the dry skin by the morning so I feel she's gonna be putting her grubby mitts in it going forwards lol.

It got quite the reaction in the purchasing thread :D

Might have to bag me some of that udder cream if you continue to wax lyrical about it @Junglist. The stuff I have from Assos was something silly like £20 for 200ml ( thought it was 400ml until I checked )

Let us know what recipes you end up with.

which one did you buy? meant to be really good last I've read about it..

It was the Battles Udder Cream I went for but I hear that there’s one called ‘Bag Balm’ which is also supposed to be very good.

I’ve only done one ride but it was as good at the Butt Butt’r I used to use

I've been using it now and then for a few months (I don't always bother with bum creme...) and it seems pretty good to me.

I had a good day yesterday which once again showed the usefulness of power meters, if anyone still needed persuading. The day started with a long 23 mile rise up to about 2,500ft (with some ups and downs meaning it was over 3k climbing) but I tried my best to stay under 220W. We descended for lunch and then had the option of the next 2,100ft climb, or roll home. I felt good and went up the next climb too (taking it over 6k ft) and had plenty in my legs for some sprints/fun coming back into Jalon with the ride leader and a random passing women Pro (I think). All this to cap off a week of about 260 miles/22k ft in 5 days.

Miss my PM as you say, very handy when you know your thresholds.

Went out for morning London Gravel, day started with -4
Double base layers, double gloves.
It was hands that felt it most but eventually all adjusted...

Was great day out. A lot of white around especially on marshes

But as it was supposed to be fairly flat I underestimated it lol

105km on 12.5kg bike and not enough breakfast , food and drink later made me pay the price of two big cramps...

Something I didn't realise until I was cycling up some big hill in the Costa Blanca, but I hadn't used my SL8 since Girona and I won't use it again until Mallorca. I didn't need to unpack it from the bike box last time and I don't need to unpack it on my return. Is there any reason I shouldn't leave it packed away in the box? (I don't run tubeless, so no sealant drying up)

I guess my only thoughts are cables being bent into different positions for too long, or just not having that check that everything is okay, nothing broke in transport. Is there anything else?

As long as you have brake blocks in I wouldn't be overly concerned. Batteries out of anything that has them probably. Why don't you use the SL8 other than on holiday?

How the other side live eh! :p

Wanting a new bike but not being able to buy a new bike is really rubbish position to be in! I thought my heart was set on the SL8 but the longer I wait the more I look at other bikes and now the Addict RC has got my attention. Lots of value too.

I'm going to justify a 2nd bike when I have done enough riding. Will go for a gravel bike tho, will be good to have a racier/fast road bike and a more relaxing geo gravel with 40mm tires. But I said, I'll only do it when I cycle regularly enough.

Just picked up my first ever road bike. B'twin Triban 500 for £55 in "perfect" condition... Apparently. Well I can tell you it's definitely not but still worth that much really. Going to give it a service and see how long 22k takes me at the weekend.

Did a lot of mountain biking and trails in the past but this will be a first!!

Honestly, this was part of the reason I wanted a second bike. I do 7k to 8k miles a year and doing that on one bike was wearing stuff out crazy fast. I'm guessing a lot of stuff wears out quicker in winter too, so demoting a bike into the position of 'winter bike' where I can put tougher tyres and cheaper components on it, seemed to make sense. Also then handy the few times I've had a technical issue that's kept be off the road, to have a backup bike.

If I had the space and money I love the idea of a winter bike....

But then going back to what we said a few days/weeks ago. I'm a fanny when it's cold so I'm thinking of buying a nice all singing all dancing bike and then also a Kickr Bike for when it's too cold.

Hopefully we'll exchange on the house in a few weeks, looking to move in towards end of April. Then hoping another house sale goes through and then I can start getting the outhouse ready and then I can finally buy a new bike for indoor and out.
