Road Cycling

Great work & long overdue! How has the recovery been? 8.5 hours is a long day out and expect that caused more 'issues' than the legs as you've been going well & regularly getting out!?

Genuinely been pretty much fine. The only slight rash seems to be on my chest from the hydration vest i was using. Some soreness during the ride which i always get around 3hours in, but then that disipates and i felt ok. My back was a little sore afterwards, but absolutely fine yesterday.

Today managed a hilly trail run so even the legs are ok. Think i'm just starting to see some benefit from consistency over the last 2 months properly pay off.

Sounds good, perfect excuse for enjoying them! More and more IPAs around the last few years due to the 'craft beer' craze, used to like trying different ones but think I've actually gone off them a little. Gone back to lagers or when I do have an IPA gone fairly plain originals for a 'known good' (Shipyard/Proper Job/HPA) rather than something with an equal chance of being 'ok' or tastes like it's not finished fermenting, flat as squash and gives me a bad gut. Hate to say it, actually liking Budweiser! Even got a slab of it for the holiday!

Yeah, i've been a big IPA fan for around 15 years now and still remember Beermoth opening in Manchester when they were mainly importing USA based craft IPAs. Still love the flavour but they don't sit as well in my stomach as they once did. Especially some of the more mainstream ones like Founders/Lagunitas that are popping up in bars around here.
Spain is still massively behind, but there's a really good local bar now which usually has a couple high end IPA's from Northern Spain. Can't say i've found enjoyment in Budweiser yet though!

Never listened to him (don't really do podcasts) but who is he? Some kinda motivational PT guy? One of my TTT'ers keeps going on about him. It's turned into a bit of a wind up from others as he is also one of the worst for chickening out of hard rides!

Goggins is a legend. If you want a laugh. Ex Navy SEAL, lots of ho-hoo, motivational stuff and silly challenges like 4x4x48 - 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.

We had a week in Gent & Bruges earlier in the month. Had to remember that you need to drink slower when you're on triples and Christmas ales at 11 and 12% :D

Yeah, i always favour DIPAs which are around the 8-9% mark and it's amazing the effect it has vs just a normal beer

Might not be the best place for this but - what an inspiration. Try and watch all the way through
Matt even uses his balls to brake at one point.

Has anyone been keeping an eye on groupset pricing recently? Are the ~50% discounts on Shimano typical or short lived and part of the winter sales?

Strava is getting extremely pushy with their premium sub.. it’s everywhere on their app. May have to stop using it at this point.
I'm on the free version and it's exactly the same regarding sub reminders, they are non stop!

I’m removing the app and stopping my data from flowing there. I’m on a free account too, it’s over the top and not worth my time. Shame but I can’t be bothered. Enpoopification of stuff continues..

I suspect it might be more slippy in 24-48 hours, but stay upright people, in the white stuff!

as inviting as the sun has been.. I decided to not go out last few days, too icy and last year I've had a few very sketchy moments.

Same. I haven't got the kit for -2 temps and the fear on all the country roads I frequent having ice is too much. Just not worth it. Shame because every day has been glorious. Worst thing is that all of us have been ill for about 2 weeks now so haven't even been out of the house much to enjoy the sun. I love this weather. Sad to be stuck inside.

Annoyingly i ordered a warm winter jacket from Siroko, but the courier decided it was ok to leave it at the local petrol station and it seems someone else has taken it :(

The only warm thing i own is an Endura one that @AndyCr15 kindly sent me about 3 years ago!

I'm glad it's perhaps still getting some use!

I went out NYE and Fri 2nd of Jan (which was a bit sketchy, as the roads were damp... and frozen in places) but I have a main roads route to our usual coffee stop, so we've been doing that. Sunday was really tough as it looked so nice out, and the roads looked quite dry generally, but I decided it wasn't worth the risk. I did my longest indoor ride at 51 miles though, which felt good to get under my belt.

Visually it’s pretty out but I’m staying indoors lol. I’m far too much of a fanny for the cold despite having some good cold weather gear

Though I am looking forward to going outside again. I enjoy these adaptive training apps but because it’s constantly getting a bit harder I feel like I’m exactly the same as when I started lol.
