Road Tripping in the USA!

I'm pretty sure it is - everyone (Expedia, Netflights uscarhire, etc) offer UK residents the fully inclusive packages now. Might be worth a call to check though.

For my rental, Netflights were the cheapest and used Alamo, who are my preferred rental agency.

I would be suprised if Dollar USA will help you or even know. Whats included in the rate is entirely down to the person purchasing it - in this case, Expedia.

I tried to modify a UK booking with Budget - different company, sure - with the US callcentre when I was in the US and they had no idea what to do and couldn't touch the reservation without resetting all the options to US specific ones.

If Expedia can't answer basic questions about the product they are selling I'd disregard them and move on to a supplier who can/

There is no route 66. I continue to be confused as to just why everyone is so obsessed with a road that's not existed for well over 50 years and is now just the odd fake sign or whatever. There are many many better things to seek out and many better roads to drive.

It's a very long drive and not sufficiently different from other drives you will do. Best bet is to fly there from north las Vegas airport.

Ours was 3k all in for everything.

3 nights in Vegas is good, gives you time for Canyon. If you do the plane trip you are back on the strip midaafternoon.

I did yea. But I doubt it's gone up much, my recent 3 week trip to the pacific northwest was just over 4 and that was with a more expensive flight.

Don't select hotel pickup or you will be stuck with whatever they bring you. More choice at the main depot and it's hardly a faff.

I got my Mustang from hertz. The guaranteed mustang option is a massive con, it's often 2 or 3 times the price!

Yeah, I'm guessing it'll be better to wait until next year and read up on what people have seen each company stock at the airport and then book with a company who have Mustangs.

This is the best idea. I usually book the car about 2 months before I go.

You won't want to own one once you have rented one. They are fairly crap cars, but lots of fun to rent in California.

Your current car is better in every way.

Unless you have to go because your other half really wants to, I'd skip Florida. It was the most 'meh' of my roadtrips. Some of it is nice but most of it is just generic really. There are many better places in the USA to go.

Doing all that AND Florida in a WEEK sounds completely pointless though. You'll see nothing and bore yourself to death. You can't really cruise at much over 75mph because there are constant highway patrols IME. Do not rely on being able to break speed limits to cover ground - if you can manage it then well done but it shouldn't be part of your planning.
