Robert Kubica has suffered "serious injuries"

I know you're a doctor, but you're jumping to conclusions slightly there no?

F1 doubtful yes, but it's a little early to doubt his ability to walk again surely?

Your right, perhaps a little bit of frustration on my part as I seriously think that Kubica is a talent that has a lot of potential. I hope he does recover soon, although the risks of infection and need for skin grafting go through the roof in a fracture that has reopened (especially if there is any metal fixation in there from the past). If this does happen then it really is bad news, all the metal has to come out and months of change of dressings etc before it can be put back in again.

Wish him all the best, but this was something he could seriously do without.

Saw this this morning. However he wouldn't be the first F1 driver to drive (not race) a car with less than 2 legs should it come to that (we hope of course it doesn't)

Alex Zanardi drove a modified Sauber in 2006 and he has no legs at all. He said the biggest problem was only having one hand on the wheel in corners though.

Hopefully he is reaching the end of his run of bad luck and that he will recover fully.

It is looking less and less likely he will be able to be back in F1 and even if he is, that he'd be anywhere near the level he was/could have been.

The setup Zanardi had was impressive. He said he used to have an advantage in the wet as he had far more precise control over the throttle using the hand controls over a pedal.

From a recent interview with Algesuari

"I think Robert is and was a fantastic driver, fast and complete. I am sure that he could be a world champion without a doubt. At present day the latest information that I have about him is not not very good. He can not drink using the hand, i mean he can not take a glass and drink so it does not look too good. I think his injury is worse than expected. Of course I would like him to come back, because without a doubt he deserves to be in F1."

Im not sure, and for what its worth, I know someone who went to see him in hospital, he said at the time that there is absolutely no way he will be able to drive a car again. He saw him again recently and said his progress has been remarkable and wouldnt be surprised to see him drive at the end of the year

From a recent interview with Algesuari

many people had a go on Algesuari because of what he said was lie.

He doesn't have any recent news about Kubica.

Manager (Kubica's) and his close friends say completely different things. That his hand is in good condition.

Not sure if you all have seen news on Thursday, but he was caught driving Skoda WRC :)

No he was photo'd standing next to a car with his hand unseen and then stood next to a guy with the car in the background with his hand unseen.

If iam standing next to kelly brook it doesn't mean iam hammering her every night, it just means that's what I want people to think.

And as for his manger, the guy makes a living solely of kubica's racing career, so it isnt much of a stretch to think that maybe he wants to carry on making money off hopes for a little while yet.

Also even if the hand is in good shape it is still nigh-on impossible he will a drive an f1 car ever again, he hasn't healed this long after the event and everything since has been setbacks, his career is over, the last few fans just need to decide on who is going to be last and turn out the light.

The fact that any normal person in his position would have had the arm amputated says all you need to know about the possible condition of his hand tbh.

If they can adjust the steering wheel so all the activity is with his other hand though then i don't see why he couldn't race again tbh! It's not like this is the first huge crash he has had.

I think what a lot of people need to realise is that whether or not Robert makes it back behind the wheel of an F1 car (I sincerely hope he does), there would be little point in his manager / management company coming across as pessimistic about his chances...

If they were to do that, even if they the balance tipped more towards that being more likely, then they would have no hope, and he'd be written off for good. Whilst there is a chance, no matter how small that maybe, they are always going to portray to the media (and thus, the fans and rest of the world) that he is healing enroute to sitting in an F1 car again.
