Robert Kubica has suffered "serious injuries"

It's not the forces that's keeping him away, it's the dexterity and restricted movement of his elbow.

I'm sure given enough work, his muscles will be fine.

It doesn't sound good that he's had to have these prosthesis fitted in order to allow more flexible arm movement though. Hopefully it's just a temporary measure to encourage movement.

Give it up, he's finished in f1, doesn't matter about sims or surgery. He isn't coming back. The fact he's having surgery this long after, shows the damage is permanent. Surgery might help, but he's had it, especially with the talent in f1 ATM.

Have to agree, surely all this shows is that he is likely to be a liability in a very fast precision instrument of an F1 car. Would teams actually take him on again given the current talent around?

Yup, it is as we thought all along. I mean, he can only now just turn the steering wheel completely? Seems like a long way to go from there and he isn't getting any younger.

So in reality: He's played F1 2011 on the PS3 while waiting for more operations to get even basic flexibility back in his arm.

Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and feel really sorry for him, but dragging this on and on under some dilluded idea that he is going to get anywhere near an F1 car again is just getting pathetic. We aren't stupid, the guy nearly had his arm ripped off. We aren't going to be surprised to be told he wont race again.

I don't think that he's saying anything, certainly not to the English speaking press.

His manager is the guy who's doing all the talking. I just wish Kubica would turn up in an F1 paddock and make himself available for interviews. At least then we'd be able to see where he's at to a degree and his fans would know one way or the other.

He would if he could, he can't if he did turn up it would be well known hell never return. His funding would become zero and his manager would lose a massive pay packet.

This is nothing more than his manager trying to keep the Kubica "share price" up.

But where's the money coming from at the moment? His deal with Renault expired, and surely his personal sponsors are contracted to finish at the same time? Even if they're not, they'd be sure to have a clause in them that they won't be valid while he doesn't have an F1 seat.

Surely the only income is any insurance, and he'd have that anyway.

Love all the experts in here, not only are they F1 experts but medical experts as well now :D

I think if Robert feels F1 is still an aim for him to achieve then so be it, let him believe and let him work to getting back to that level if he can, good luck to him and I am not sure why people feel the need to write him off without really knowing a thing.

practice commentary just reminded me, that Kubica tested a WRC spec rally car recently on a special stage and set competitive times.

Apparently he's entered into a rally in Italy this weekend.

Hope it all goes well.

If it's not ready he'll just enter the next one. It's not like he's got anything to hide, he's already successfully completed a test.

From what I've read/heard etc.. his arm is still weak and the hand lacking full dexterity, but the rehabilitation is going well.

I reckon after a few rallies he'll be in an F1 simulator then a 2009/10 F1 car.
